Chapter 17
1 Month Later- September 22
Autumn's POV
I paced the balcony impatiently waiting for Dark Superman. I heard the familiar whoosh on top of my roof and there he was.
"You're here," I said relieved.
"You look worried, sorry I'm late," he said.
"No, it's fine, you're always here before my husband so that counts," I said with a shrug of my shoulders.
"I thought things were getting better with Jake?" he asked as he leaned back against his palms sitting down.
"They are...for the most part. He's now coming home early 3 days a week," I frowned, "but he's trying."
"Listen, tomorrow I won't be here, I have another billboard reveal along with a new collection, so I'll be gone till late," I explained.
"Is that why you're so fidgety?" he asked smirking.
I stuck out my tongue sitting down, "Shut up Robin, you're not making things any easier."
"Again with that nickname," he groaned.
"What's wrong with it? I thought you liked it?" I asked defensively.
"It's just Robin was always the tiny sidekick, and I'm definitely not a sidekick or tiny," he said.
"So? I think Robin's perfect, it goes well with the mask and blue eyes," I said not mentioning that I had always found Robin super attractive.
He sighed, "Fine, whatever you say."
I smiled pleased I had won, "Anything exciting today? New information?"
"Nope, though I feel like I'm on to something. I found some footage that could possibly explain everything, but I'm waiting for a friend to decrypt it, so I can watch it."
"That's good, I hope you find what you're looking for," I said sincerely.
He gave me the usual stare before looking away. I had calmed down with him being here, but those stares always sent a jolt up my spine.
He cleared his throat causing me to look back at him.
"Can I ask you a question? You don't have to answer if you don't want to," he said.
"Go for it," I encouraged as I sat down.
"Do you ever feel like what we're doing is wrong towards Jake?" he asked.
My eyebrows knitted together, "What? Of course not, we're not doing anything wrong, you visit, and we talk, that's it."
"Yeah, but it's not like you've told Jake about it or have you?" he asked. He had a point.
"That's true, but it's not like he tells me everything. Besides you've become someone I can talk to, and it's not always like that with Jake. We can barely have a conversation these days without him having calls from work or falling asleep during a conversation."
"Give the guy a break Fall," he pleaded.
"Fall?"
He looked away bashfully, "Thought I'd give you a nickname of my own."
"Props to you, it's very original," I said playfully.
He did a small bow in return, "Thanks, I worked hard on it."
"As I was saying," I said getting back on track," if Jake found out. I believe he'd become very jealous. He would most likely prohibit me from talking to you."
