Autumn's POV

I threw the note back onto the counter grabbing my keys with Jake hot on my tail.

"We need to head to the hospital, my dad had another heart attack," I explained hastily as we climbed into the car.

My hands were throbbing in pain. I clutched them to my chest wanting it to go away but my mind of full of guilty thoughts. If he died it was my fault. My mother must have told him I had left and was never returning.

"Autumn, calm down. You're making me nervous," he took one of my hands and intertwined it with his placing it in his lap constantly rubbing his thumb in circular motions.

It was comforting and eased my pain a bit.

"I'm sorry. I just can't help but feel that if anything happens to him it's going to be because of me."

"It's not your fault Autumn. You stood up to your mom," he said looking over at me every once in a while.

We finally reached the hospital as soon as he parked I was out of the door without a glance back. I zoomed past cars that honked at me and into the hospital.

The nurse at the desk gave me a small smile probably used to people barging in all the time.

"Excuse me could you tell me if Weston Parker is here?" I asked eagerly.

"Of course dear, let me see," she typed away on the computer, "he's in room 321, to your left up the elevator to the third floor and then to the right."

"Thank you so much," I said over my shoulder trying to reach the elevator before it shut.

I finally reached the room. I knocked and shortly after my mother opened it. She didn't look the least bit surprised.

"Autumn, it took you long enough, I'm afraid you're father doesn't want to speak with you."

"What? Why not? What did you tell him?" I hissed under my breath as people walked by.

"I told him that you left us, that you were ashamed to be a Parker because we weren't rich like the Williams family, and that is why you had married Jake, to get away from us."

"That's a lie! You know that's not true. You're the one that wants his money!" I lashed at her.

"Do not raise your voice at me young lady!" she hissed back.

"Just because I told you I didn't want to be your daughter anymore doesn't mean I don't want to be dad's daughter," I pushed my way into the room where he was sound asleep.

"I suggest you leave before I call security," she threatened.

"For me wanting to see my father? I highly doubt they'll take me away."

Someone cleared their throat we looked up to see the doctor and Jake watching us from the door.

"Mrs.Parker we should discuss Mr.Parker's health and the method of payment," the doctor proposed from the doctor looking uneasily between us.

My mother's face paled as she looked at me with desperate eyes. I sighed then looked at Jake, "Jake could you accompany my mom with the doctor?"

"Of course, I'll take care of everything," he assured.

I would have protested he pay for the hospital bill, but my father began stirring in his bed that I turned all my attention to him. I sat down on the chair next to his bed taking his hand in mine.

His eyes fluttered open as he looked around, his eyes finally settling on me. He gave me a sad, disappointed look.

"Dad don't look at me like that," I pleaded, "what Mom said wasn't true. I just had an argument with her and told her I didn't want to see her. None of that had to do with you and everything she said. She's trying to turn you against me Dad."
