The truck purred as Chris put it in park. They were back at the field, which caused the corners of Britha's lips to curl. "This is it, boss." Chris ran his hand through his hair as he spoke.
"Alright, now just back up to the tree line." Degan glanced up at Chris from whatever he had been typing on his phone.
"B-boss...." Chris spoke hesitantly, more worried about the fact that if anything happened to the truck while he was driving it, Degan might kill him.
Degan huffed, "Fine, I'll do it..." Degan pried open his door and jumped out. Chris waited till Degan was at the driver door to get out. Degan then climbed into the driver seat and Chris took his spot in the back. He tossed his phone over landing it in Britha's lap, he then clicked a button on the dash board that had an S on it. Unlike Chris, Degan used the shifter that protruded from the floor of the truck instead of the one the come out from the side of the wheel. Britha then noticed that he was using both feet, only one hand rested on the wheel while the other remained on the chrome head of the shifter.
Degan grinned wildly as he pushed on the shifter, pressed both the gas and break at the same time as he turned the wheel in a circle. The back of the truck whipped around in making a sideways U. They were now facing the old, decrepit and disappearing dirt road that lead them back to the main road while the bed of the truck faced the field. He pressed his foot down on the gas and lifted his other off the break as he cranked the shifter. The truck released a loud growl and pushed back, plowing down the field grass and flowers. Degan's grin widened as he pushed the shifter up then to the side and floored the gas. The field quickly disappeared as the tree line grew closer very quickly.
"Careful, deh's eh hole someweh' near deh tree line..." Britha turned in her seat, now looking out the wide back windshield. Dex leaned to the side, allowing her to see better.
"Well, do you re-"
"Stap!" She shouted, cutting Degan off.
Degan quickly slammed the break as he lifted his other foot off the gas and pushed the shifter, ultimately forcing the truck to a halt. "How big is this damn hole?"
"Et's more ef eh ditch den eh hole..." Britha shrugged with as a faint smirk played her painted lips.
Degan chuckled and shook his head with a smirk similar to hers. He then pressed down on the shifter and released it, pulling up on an emergency break that rested on the left side of the driver seat. "Alright boys, we're on foot from here. Drop the tail gate and spread one of the tarps out on the bed. Keep the other folded on the gate and put the bungee cords on top of it." Degan then pushed the driver door open and hopped out, the guys did the same. He then made his way around the front of the truck and opened Britha's door, helping her out of the truck before closing the passenger door and pressing a button on the key, locking all the doors on the truck.
They waited till Dex, King and Chris were done with the tarps before heading into the forest, following behind Chris. It hadn't taken them long to got to the monstrous pine tree, which wasn't so hard to find since it still had the bullet lodge into its trunk. Degan couldn't help but smile at Britha, who no longer had a wound on her cheek from the bullet grazing her face or a hole in her thigh. Degan cleared his throat, his hues now looked burnt orange as they fell onto Britha and he held his hand out, "Lead the way."
Possibly half an hour of trekking through thick vegetation, which Degan, Chris and Britha didn't mind but threw the other two into mumbles and struggles to push on.
"I don't see why the fuck we have to do this shit...He never did this for any of the other fauns...This is bullshit..." King mumbled deeply, only Dex heard his fussing.
