Nine months had passed, it was now April and Britha's stomach was massive, her tracker had been taken off the morning after she had slept with Degan. She sat reading on the front porch as a black Cadillac made it's way up the driveway. Not recognizing the car, she sat her book, slowly stood up and waddled into the house, her hand resting on the top of her stomach.
"Degan! Some'n jest pulled ep.." She stopped as Degan came into the living room, looking out the front door. He huffed softly and pressed a button by the door. Moments later, everyone on the plantation piled out on the porch and faked a smile.
"That would be Miranda..." Degan helped Britha through the crowed and back to the rocking chair. He then made his way over to Leon, as Leon was the only one who had a complexion close to his.
"If she starts asking questions, you're the father, got it?" Degan patted Leon's shoulder then made his way down the front steps and to the car. Leon arched a brown, slightly confused, but he shrugged it off and watched as Miranda stepped out of the car. Britha couldn't help but stare. Miranda was beautiful. Her dark chocolate skin was smooth, her bush of midnight curls fell to her shoulders as her pale sweater, as loose as it was, and her shorts, showed off her voluptuous body. Degan smiled and kissed her plump, pastel pink, glossed lips, she returned the kiss with a smirk.
"How was it?" Degan removed her bags from the car and snapped his fingers, Chris and King then went and carried the bags into the house and to the master bedroom that Miranda and Degan shared.
Everyone then went back to what they were doing as Miranda made her way onto the porch, her hazel eyes immediately locked onto Britha. "And who might you be?" She looked over Britha with a scowl, quickly noticing she was pregnant.
"Meh name es Britha, et's nice teh finally meet yeh." Britha smiled softly but quickly saw the hate in the womans eyes, which caused her smile to disappear.
"Hi...." Miranda scoffed then rolled her eyes, making her way into the house. It then hit her that Britha wasn't wearing a tracker. She quickly made her way onto the deck, finding Degan and Leon leaning on the rail whispering.
"Excuse me, but why the hell isn't that girl... Bertha, wearing a tracker, Degan?" Concern laced her eyes as she crossed her arms. She was afraid of it, of being replaced. She was like the other girls, a slave if you'd say, but she slowly gained his trust. It took four years for her to get her tracker off, but it only took Britha 14 months.
"She doesn't need one... And it's Britha, not Bertha" Degan scratched his head and moved a chestnut dread from his face and looked over his wife.
"Can we speak...alone..." She narrowed her eyes at Leon, who nodded then left the two alone on the deck. She waited till her was out of ears range before speaking.
"Is it yours?" She looked down then back up as she gripped her arm, her leg shaking slightly.
Degan could hear her heart racing in his ear, he shook his head and leaned baxk, resting his forearms behind him on the rail. "No, it's not." Degan spoke with confidance as he locked eyes with Miranda.
She sighed in relief as she relaxed and made her way closer. She placed her hand on his chest and looked into his eyes, lowering her voice. "May Aldonia give me the strength to have mercy on you if you're lying to me..."
Degan rolled his eyes as he grabbed her by the wrist and forced her closer, his other hand gripped onto her waist as he lowered his head, now whispering in her ear, "I think you've forgotten you place, Miranda. Do i need to remind you?" He growled lowly as he spoke, fustrated ay her for trying to threaten him.
She swallowed hard and softly shook her head, "No, Sir.." He released his grip as she spoke.
"Good." He rolled his shoulders back then pushed past her, making his way into the yard and into the shed, to continue his conversation with Leon.
Miranda sighed softly and headed back into the house. She arched a brow as she heard a nother unfamiliar voice in the living room.
"My child, you're do in lees than a week, we must not wait any longer. We have to get to The Fallen district." Tea helped Britha up from her seat on the couch and out the front door. "Sit, I will go find Degan, wait here." Britha sat on the rocking chair and nodded, her hands folded under her large stomach.
Tea then left the front porch and wanderd to the shed.
Miranda then stepped onto the porch and faked a friendly smile as she sat down in the rocker beside Britha. "So, which one of the guys are the dad, is it Tyler?" She continued to fake the smile as she looked over at Britha.
Britha shoom her head. "Nu, Tyler es dead...Leon.." She smiled happily as she said his name.
Miranda laughed and shook her head, "Seriously? Leon?!" She chuckled and sighed, "That's funny."
"Yes seriously, Devan interrupted as he, along with Leon and Tea approached them. "Leon..." Leon nodded and helped Britha up with a smile and down the stairs. Degan then grabbed his truck keys and jogged up to the garage. Miranda arched a brow as confusion laced her eyes. "Where are you all going?"
Leon looked back at Miranda as he pushed his glasses back up on the bridge of his nose. "To see someone to help her give birth..."
Miranda looked over at Degan, "Can't you just take her to the hospital?"
Degan shook his head and helped Lein get Britha into the passanger seat. "The doctors are going to wanna do more than help her give birth, since she's the last of her kind..."
Once Britha was in the truck, Tea Lean and Degan then got in. "You're in charge while I'm gone." He then cranked the shifter and the truck rolled oit of the driveway.
