The ride home was anything but silent. Degan learned much about Tea, and she him. He didn't tell her that he had her daughter though. He wanted that to be a surprise. It was 8 am when Degan pulled into the driveway of the house. Tea looked around the yard and buildings curiously, Degan's plantation was smaller than the one she came from, but then again she lived on a breader plantation. Degan stopped the car at the front steps. "Wait here." Tea nodded while Degan and Leon got out. Leon made his way over to the shed with the rrst of the mony in his pockets and his tablet in hand as Degan made his way to the porch. Find Britha sipping on coffee as she sat Indian style in on one of the white rocking chairs.
"How was deh trip?" Britha sat her mug on the small table and stood up, giving Degan a hug.
He returned the hug with a smile. "It was fantastic. There's someone I want yo-" Degan turned as the passenger door slammed shut. Degan stepped to the side, giving Britha full view of the woman.
Britha sniffed the air, her eyes glowed softly as she caught the scent of Lilies.
"Br-Britha...Is it really you?" Tea's soft voice cracked faintly as tears filled her solid black orbs.
Britha's eyes widened as she choked on her words and ran down to Tea, wrapping her arms around the woman's waist tightly, tears rolled down her cheeks as she was still inable to get her words out.
Tea wrapped her arms around Britha, a happy and excited look laced her face as she pressed Britha's head against her chest. "It is you...My child, how I've missed you."
Degan watched as the two wipped their eyes and cheeks with small laughs and giggles. "I'm sorry that it took me so long to find you, Tea." Degan slid his hands into his jean pockets as he smiled softly.
Britha ran her hands through her mother's long white hair, the strands seperating around her fingers as she then hugged her mother again.
"I am forever in your debt, Degan. You have no idea how grateful I am. Yet I have one question..." Tea looked up at Degan as the two walked towards the porch with an arm around each other.
Degan leaned onto the pillar of the porch, watching as they smiled and nuzzled into each other. "I'm listening..."
Tea looked up from Britha, her black, gleeful eyes locking onto Degan as she spoke, "Why did you do all of this? Why go out of your way to bring us together?"
He sighed and rolled his shoulders back. "Britha's going to need emotional and physical support soon...So who better to give it to her than her own mother...And I never liked the Gorgans anyway, they always had there heads up each others asses, caring only about the money." He smiled as Britha looked up at him, the confusion in her eyes made him laugh. "I only read two pages of your diary, nobody should grow up like that. And I know what the Gorgans do to females...Nobody should ever be treated that way." Degan opened the front soor and held it for the two. He then followed in behind them.
Tea smiled as her orbs examined the house, which was much more comfortable and nicer than the place she came from. Once again in her life, she was finally happy. Her black hues lightened slightly, now a dark shade of grey.
Britha knew her mother's eyes weren't naturally black. For years Britha's eyes were the same shade of black as Tea's. It was the loneliness and fear that tuened her eyes so cold, but it wasn't fear or loneliness in Tea's eyes. It was hate, disgust, pain, and distrust all twisted into fading hope. But those feelings were fading, thats why her eyes were regaining color.
Three or four hours had now passed and the two were sitting outside, underneath the oak tree. Britha had learned that Tea was forced to have another child. Though the father took the child the seconds after she was born, Tea hadn't seen the child ever again. "Do me a favor, don't lose him. Hold Degan close and don't allow the others push you two apart. He's a good man, there's not many of them left. Believe me I know. Can you do that for me?" Tea spike softly as she untangled Britha's hair from her antlers with a proud smile.
Britha nodded gently and smiled "Mum, Ah..." She paused as her smile softened, "Ah think Ah love him...." Her voice was almost a whisper as she fondles the end of her dress, looking down as small flowers began to grow and bloom around them. Britha rememberd this from when she was young. When her mother was happy, flowers would grow and bloom around her, no matter where she was.
"Why don't you tell him, I'm sure he'll be happy about it." Tea finished the braid as she spoke faintly.
"Ah think Ah will..." Britha turned and looked at her mother witba happy smile and small giggle.
