Disclaimer: This scene you see where they meet up with Draco in the woods is very similar to the one in the book. I liked that better than the one in the movie, so I decided to go with that & used some of the exact dialogue. JK Rowling is a genius. End of Story.
Chapter Three: Dark Hour
"Can you believe that game?" I said pacing back and forth around Jake's tent. It was packed with a bunch of sixth years who were celebrating, and I mean literally celebrating. Gabe was the first one to rush in ranting about all the stupid mistakes the teams had made while he cracked open a bottle of fire whiskey. "That was totally awesome! I can't believe Ireland won! Eowyn must be out of her mind right now!" I continued.
"Carlie," Jake said interrupting me. "Not to be a buzz kill or anything, but it's been almost three hours since the game ended. Wasn't the plan to get you back to the tent before your family? So that you didn't get in trouble?"
"Who cares? That game was amazing, there was no way I was missing the celebration!" I responded. "That comeback was...I mean, I really thought Bulgaria had it! A hundred and seventy to a hundred and sixty? Talk about a match-" I stopped shortly at the sound of screaming. I looked at Jake curiously. Everyone around us in the tent as well seemed to notice. We all silenced which made the screams more obvious.
"Everyone stay still," Gabe said stepping forward and opening up the flap on the tent. From the small gap he had made I could see fire, and lots of it. "Everyone stay calm! Just get back to your port key!" Gabe called to us all. Of course, no one stayed calm. Everyone quickly fled, knocking over furniture and screaming in panic. I followed behind Jake and the second I stepped out of the tent, the sight was horrifying. Half the camp was burning down as people ran in all sorts of directions.
"What's going on?" I yelled as we ran through the crowd. I had no idea where we were going. This place was a maze.
"Just stay with me!" he yelled back. Grabbing onto his hand, we pushed through the crowds but they were getting tighter and tighter. "Carlie!" I heard him call as someone broke through our grip. People were pushing through us to get to safety which caused us to be pushed farther apart. No longer could I see his face. Panicking I circled around a few times, not being able to see anyone I knew.
Having no clue where I was, I rushed into one straight direction, hoping it would lead me to a safe place. In fact, it didn't. With my luck, I landed right in the center of the chaos. Here the flames burned higher and people screamed louder. What was most frightening was the scary parade of black cloaked wizards that wore a series of frightening masks and tall pointed black hats. They were the ones causing the whole problem. I watched as flames shot from their wands and as they manipulated other wizards.
Once I realized I wasn't moving, I began to run once more. Tripping and slightly falling against one of the burning tents. Scorching pain burnt against me yet I continued running as the small flame went out. I saw the entrance to the woods and ran as fast as I could towards it. At least here I could hide out until it looked safe. Once I got to the edge of the woods away from the flames, I slid down next to a tree.
Patting the side of arm it stung badly. The flame had burnt right through my coat and shirt revealing red and blistering skin. It wasn't large but it hurt very badly. I ripped off a piece of my already destroyed shirt and tied it around tightly. I could not afford to get an infection before school starts. Looking down, my jeans had ripped and my knee was scratched up as well. I sat there for a while and listened, wondering why those wizards were doing what they were doing. Maybe they were Bulgarian fans who were angry at the results? No, not possible. This would have been taking it too far. This seemed too planned.
