Chapter Thirteen: Truths Revealed
The final task was here. I was anxious to see what it would be. After the last two...I knew it wouldn't be anything simple. I made sure to Harry good luck that morning because I knew I wouldn't be seeing him until after the task was complete. I met up with Dasha and Eowyn to get seats. The task looked like a maze. It couldn't be that simple though...I couldn't even picture what they would be facing in there. We sat by schools, Beauxbatons was to the left of us and Durmstrang was to the right. Hogwarts was in the middle because we took the most space. The entire school was there to watch as well as a few more adults than usual. The champions parents had come as well, except for Harry's of course, but the Weasley's showed up for him and I'm sure that made him happy.
The judges and professors were all standing around by the front of the maze. Strangely...I don't know I never noticed, this but Barty Crouch had just disappeared. He was no longer a judge and after the second tournament I haven't heard a word about him. I meant to ask Harry about that. It was rather strange actually, especially because he was in charge of the tournament.
I was seated with Dasha and Eowyn. Unfortunately we were right behind Draco and he knew that. He had to make very loud and clear comment about how he hoped Potter didn't come back and how Krum better win. I ignored him and waved to Jake who sat with the Gryffindors down near the front. The champions were in their positions to begin and the music was playing. It was actually a very exciting atmosphere, except for the fact that it was going to be dangerous. There was a large maze set up and different entrances for the champions. Once they were in, we wouldn't be able to see them anymore. It would be like the second task.
Dumbledore then made his speech and went to begin the countdown when Filch had a misfire and set off the cannon. They were then all sent in to the maze by ranking, and the maze sealed itself back up. I guess there was no turning back now. I just hoped the best for Harry.
An hour passed and no one has come back yet. I was beginning to get impatient. I just wanted to know who had won already! Fleur had been removed once more. I was surprised she chosen as a champion in the first place. She never completed the second task either. Red sparks were sent up and she was dragged back looking rather shaken up by a few of the rescue wizards. Then Krum had to surprisingly be dragged out a while later after red sparks were sent up, he looked nothing like himself and had this strange look in his eyes. I suppose the maze really does change you.
This meant Harry and Cedric were the only ones left. Which Hogwarts had won! Kakaroff looked furious once Krum was the one who they had brought back. Draco stopped his commentary after that. He finally realized that Harry could win this thing. Just one more thing Harry would have over him. Hogwarts cheered though, because we had already won. Now we all had to wonder, who would be the official Champion?
It was then that with a loud snap, Harry and Cedric were both laying face down in the ground with the cup. Was it a tie? No one seemed to care at the moment as all of Hogwarts burst into cheers. I cheered loudly and screamed Harry's name, knowing Malfoy would be listening. The row in front of me didn't cheer, but I didn't care. I was glad to see they were safe. Though as Harry began moving he didn't look too happy. I hated that I was in the back, because I could barely see, but from what I could see...it looked as if he was almost crying while screaming something. Dumbledore and Moody rushed over.
