I woke up the next morning and thought about Annabeth. How she said I seemed so familiar.
She seemed very familiar to me too. Not like I used to be in her 1st grade class, but like we were best friends in middle school or something.
I was eating my breakfast and thinking about this. What if we were lovers? Ha, that would be funny. I accidentally chuckled out loud.
This brought Lacy's attention to me. "What's so funny?"
"Oh uh..." I didn't know what to say.
"Come on, you can tell me." She looked at me with those puppy dog eyes and I decided I should just tell her, what could be the harm?
"Well..it's about Annabeth." I started.
"What about her?"
"She seems so familiar, like I've met her before."
"And how is this funny?"
"Well I was thinking about how familiar she seems, and I was thinking you know, maybe we were past lovers and some point but I've just entirely forgotten about it."
"...that's not that funny. That's actually a pretty far fetched idea there. Are you coming down with something?" She asked, reaching out to feel my forehead for a fever.
I smacked her hand away, "No! I just think it's funny that I'd think we were lovers at some point. There's no way I like girls and I'm sure Annabeth is in a relationship."
"Actually," Lacy said, "Annabeth isn't in a relationship. She was dating Percy like one or two years ago, but I don't recall her dating anyone else."
"What if she's secretly dating someone at camp, or maybe a mortal?"
"Piper. Sweetie. We're daughters of Aphrodite. The Goddess Of Love. Trust us. We know whether someone is dating or not. Annabeth is very single."
I put up my hands in surrender, "okay okay. I guess I have a lot to learn about my mother." We both went back to eating our breakfast, and for some reason I felt happy to know that Annabeth was single. But why?

I was sitting in my cabin with absolutely nothing to do. I flopped down on my bed. What could I possibly do.
....maybe I'll go see if Annabeth is in her cabin. So I got up and walked out the door.
It wasn't far of a walk before I arrived at the Athena cabin. I knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" A voice called.
"It's Piper. The new kid. Can I come in?"
Immediately the door opened and standing there was Annabeth. She looked kinda shocked/surprised to see me. As if she never suspected that I, Piper McLean, would ever knock on her cabin door.
But she also looked happy. Like the only thing she wanted was for me to be there.
"Piper?" She said, still kinda shocked.
"Yes. It is me. Piper. Are you gonna let me in?"
"Uh..yeah! Of course! Come on in." She said.
I walked in and looked around the cabin. Lots of maps and books. I sat down in a chair and spun around. "You got some nice digs here Annie."
"What?"
Crap. Why did I say Annie? "Oh uh I'm sorry. I don't know where that came from I just, it just happened."
"No no, it's fine. I kinda like it actually. No one has ever called me Annie before, but coming from you it sounds very familiar." She pulled a chair up in front of me and sat down. "Peculiar."
"Yeah, very peculiar. And speaking of peculiar, this place is very familiar but this is the second time I've stepped foot in here."
I was still looking around the room and finally brought my eyes back to Annabeth. She was staring at me.
"Woah." I said.
"What? Is something wrong? Do I have something on my face?"
I chuckled. "No. Your eyes. I've never seen gray eyes." I say as I stare into them. "They're so.."
"Strange? Weird? Abnormal?"
"-pretty." I say.
Annabeth blushes, "oh, well, thank you."
One of Annabeth's siblings walks in. "Oh, sorry, was I interrupting something?"
Annabeth spins around. "Malcom, hi, no, you weren't."
"Actually, I was just leaving." I say, standing up. "I'll see you tomorrow Annabeth." But I give her this look that says "or maybe tonight?"
She nods in understanding. And I walk out of the cabin.Quickly I walk back to the Aphrodite cabin and close the door behind me. I let out a sigh and close my eyes. Thinking about Annabeth, how I called her Annie and said she had pretty eyes. And the crazy thought that maybe we were lovers.
"Whatcha doin' there Piper?" It's Drew. She can be alright sometimes, but usually she's really annoying.
"Nothing, I just got back from archery." I lie.
"Sure you did." She says. She walks up to me.
"Somethings up with you. But I can't tell what it is.." For a moment she's just looking me up and down, then she stares at my eyes for an uncomfortably long time. "I've got it. I know what's up. You have a crush." She finally states.
"What?" I say, all flustered. "I do not."
"You say that, but my powers don't lie. You're in love with someone. Only..who?"
"I'm not in love with anyone. I don't have any crushes."
"Well then, who were you just with? Because whoever it was, they have the key to your heart."
"I wasn't with anyone Drew, shut up and leave me alone." I walk away and lay in my bed, turning to the wall.
Was Drew right? Did I have a crush on Annabeth? Surely not right? I don't like girls.
Well..maybe I do. I don't know. I'll figure it out later.
