"Athena?"
"Yes Aphrodite?"
"You're going to have to talk to your daughter."
"What about?"
"Love. Piper."
"Why?"
Aphrodite groaned in frustration. "Our daughters are dating, but they're both too shy to even kiss each other. So you need to talk to Annabeth, because we know Piper is never gonna make the first move."
"I don't know. I'm not good with love. You've been with Ares and Hephaestus. I haven't found anyone. Love is hard."
"I may be the love goddess, but trust me, love is not hard. Think of it as a battle strategy. Lay it all out. Annabeth needs to take the offensive position and be the one to kiss Piper. She needs to take it step by step. She's already dating Piper, so they have each other's hearts. Now she needs to take Piper somewhere really romantic for their first kiss. And then make her move. Does that make sense?"
"Actually, yes. Thank you Aphrodite." She gave her a little smile.
"Of course. Now go talk to your daughter."
----------
Annabeth was filling out some college applications when her Mom showed up. *eye roll*. "What is it you want?"
"I'm just here to talk to you, about Piper."
"Yeah? Since when did you become Aphrodite?"
Athena blushed. "I'm-I'm not. I just want to try and become more involved in my children's lives." Just then Malcolm walked into the cabin. Athena wrapped her right arm around his shoulders and gave a little side hug. "See? How are you Mark?"
"Malcolm. Fine...I'm gonna go." He left quickly, the door slamming behind him.
Most of the gods were pretty absent in their children's lives. Especially the Athena children. Athena cared more about war, strategy, and intelligence. Not love. The only time the gods contacted their children was if they needed something, if it was war time, if they were claiming their child, or if they wanted to gossip but that's just Aphrodite. So most of them tried to forget about their godly parents.
"Believe it or not, but I'm trying. All of the gods like you and Piper being together."
"Did they like me and Percy?"
Athena laughed out loud. Maybe for the first time in her life. "Oh, I'm sorry about that. Uh, no. Not at all. The gods all see you as a very intelligent and promising demigod. Percy is...a loose cannon, wild, rabid, a troublemaker, troubled, uh-"
"Mother!"
"I'm sorry. I know you loved Perseus. But compared to your love with Piper, the gods like it better."
"So why are you here? What do you think I need help with."
"Well, word is that you haven't kissed. Tell me about that."
"I don't know. I just get nervous around her. I don't want to mess anything up."
"You're already dating though, what's to mess up?"
"Maybe if I kissed her, and it was bad, she would dump me?"
"Honey, that's crazy." Athena walked over and tucked Annabeth's hair behind her ear, leaving her hand on her cheek. "Piper loves you, and even if the kiss is horrible, she would never break up with you because of it. All first kisses are bad."
"She loves me?"
"Listen just, don't worry about it. Take her somewhere romantic, out of camp. I can talk to Chiron. Let things go where they go."
