Chapter 11

We woke up early. Early enough so that we could see the sun rise, its brilliant rays shining through the branches on the surrounding trees. The light hit Annabeth's hair just right, so much so that it seemed to glow. It had its own radiance, as if it was made of gold thread. She looked beautiful. I, on the other hand, had hair sticking up in odd places, it was a mess. But she smiled brightly at me, never looking away. She was great.

We headed back to camp, I hugged her for a while, taking in every breath she took, the warmth her body gave off. Then we went our separate ways, on my way to my own cabin, I stopped and watched Annabeth make her way to her own. 'Cute butt' I thought. And then I finally tip toed into my own. Everyone was sleeping peacefully, and I was still tired so I got right into bed and fell asleep.

-------

I woke up just like how I wake up any day, to the smell of fifteen different perfumes mixing and violating my nostrils. I looked around and Drew and Lacy were no where to be seen. 'Perfect.' I did not feel in the mood to deal with their pestering and all their questions. So I threw on some clean jeans and a tee, tied my boots, and made my way out to get some breakfast.

Breakfast was okay. There was still no sign of Drew and Lacy. I kept on glancing over at the Athena table at Annabeth, and every time I caught her eye, she would blush and look down. Absolutely adorable. I couldn't read minds, but I could tell she was thinking of our near kiss last night. I should have kissed her, but we were both too nervous. 'I should kiss her again today' I thought, 'I definitely should'.

I finished up my breakfast and headed  back to my cabin. I had nothing scheduled that day. I just wanted to go lay down and think. I opened the door and saw Drew and Lacy casually talking while sitting on my bed. 'Oh no.' I thought.

They immediately turned their heads toward me. I really didn't need their pestering today. I made a run for it. Not outside, but toward the bathroom. I had gotten inside and grabbed the door, forcing it shut. But Drew put her foot in the crack just before it closed and slammed her shoulder into the door. "Let us in, Piper, you're only making this harder on yourself."

"Look Drew. I'm just-I just wanna be alone today. There's nothing to report."

She pushed on the door and I stumbled back a little, but was able to push it back. "There's always something to report."

No matter how hard I tried, I could not get the door closed. Drew gave one hard push and I fell backwards. She pushed the door open, smiling triumphantly. She held out her hand and Lacy gave her a high five. She then crouched down next to me on the floor, saying, "If you ever want to kiss Annabeth Chase, you need our help."

She just sat their smirking. I knew she was right, and she knew I knew she was right. "Fine." I said. I sat up and looked at the both of them. "She took me on a little picnic, with my favorite snacks. We spent the night there. I didn't kiss her, but I did kiss her cheek. That was all."

"You know, for a daughter of Aphrodite, you're pretty sucky at the whole love thing." Drew commented.

"You're not wrong. She couldn't tell if Annabeth was single or not." Lacy added.

"Really?" Drew asked. Then she laughed loudly. "I bet you don't even know how to use your charmspeak."

"Now now, children. No need to make fun of Piper." It was Aphrodite, standing in the doorway behind Lacy.

"Mommy!" Lacy turned and gave Aphrodite a hug. She looked a little uncomfortable but also quite pleased. I wonder when the last time she got a hug was.

"Thank you, dear. Now Piper, don't listen to Drew. Love isn't easy. You should know..Drew."

Drew looked angrily at Aphrodite. "Yeah, whatever. I'm leaving. Have fun fixing this mess." She said, gesturing to me. And then swiftly walked away.

"Lacy, maybe it's best you leave too?" Aphrodite asked.

"Yeah, okay. Bye!!" She smiled and ran after Drew.

"Can we move out of this cramped bathroom?" I asked.

"Yes." We both walked out and I gestured to sit down on my bed.

"So, you know Annabeth is gay. You know she likes you. You're both dating. You went on your first date. What's next?"

"First kiss?"

"Yes. There you go. Now, your first kiss is gonna be awkward. It's not Annabeth's first kiss, but it is yours. Just relax, and go with the flow."

"Okay."

"Obviously, Annabeth is gonna have to make the first move, so I'll talk to Athena who can talk to her."

"Wait, what? I can kiss her first."

Aphrodite looked me up and down. "Oh now that's funny Piper. That really is. Just make sure you're brushing your teeth, and don't eat anything gross or stinky. That's about it. Oh, and don't be nervous. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to call."

And then she was gone.

Author's Note

Okay, so I'm really bad at this whole updating thing.

Sorryyyyy.

But I'm back, and since we sorta have a break, I will be updating. Feel free to drop any ideas, because I love to incorporate it in.

I do have a new series I've been writing, but I won't be publishing it until I finish this one.

And I really like this book, so I'm gonna try my best to complete it.
