"We need to find him," Dean announced, and Sam frowned.
"What?"
"We need to find Cas, he's gone".
"Dean, he probably left for a reason," he tried, and Dean glared at him.
"Yeah, you! You and your stupid theories. He heard your spout of bullshit and because of that he thinks he's dangerous!"
"He is!" Sam yelled, and Dean was visibly holding himself back.Sam closed his eyes for a second. "I'm sorry, Dean, but Cas did the right thing".
"He's alone out there, okay? I won't let him be. I'm not gonna kick him out again, okay? I need him here and I'm going out to find him". Sam tried to say no. That he shouldn't try and find him. But he knew Dean needed him.
"I'll stay here, in case he comes back," he said instead, and Dean smiled. "Call me if you find anything".--
It had been ages since he'd been in his car. He loved that he could still fit behind the wheel, because he knew that it wouldn't be long before he wouldn't. He smiled at the pine trees racing past him, and remembered his goal. Cas. He scanned the area, seeing only a man walking his dog. Where would he go? He half-jokingly thought about checking the nearest Gas-n-Sip.
His thoughts wandered, remembering how Cas had looked when he'd told him to leave. How he'd kicked him out, alone and new to humanity. He was living on the streets, afraid and running for his life. Dean could have kept him safe, but he didn't. He could have told Gadreel to shove it. But he didn't. He left Cas to suffer. Alone.
A horn blared, and Dean's attention was snapped back to the road. A car was heading directly for him, and he served to miss it. His hands clenched on the wheel as the car spun into a grassy, muddy ditch. It flipped, landing on the roof, and the windscreen shattered. Glass splayed everywhere, some slicing into Dean's cheek. His pale skin was painted red by his own blood, the lack of a seat belt almost certainly sealing his fate. He cried out as he landed on his arm, shattering the bone. His head slammed into the door violently. His vision blurred, and he closed his eyes.
The air seemed eerily silent as the other driver stepped out of her car. She was young, still just a kid. She looked over the mess, and the broken car, and drove away - terrified.
