Never ~ Rilaya Fanfiction COMPLETED ~

I was hyperventilating. I honestly was. My breath quickened when I heard Riley coming up the stairs.

Lucas placed a calming hand on my leg as Farkle sat quietly. He knew I was mad at him. I carefully waved Lucas's hand away as the door swung open.

"Maya Penelope Hart!" Riley shouted. I braced as she ran to hug me. I carefully patted her back in response.

"Where the heck have you been?" Riley demanded.

I sighed. "Sit down, Riley."

She slowly did, waiting for me to continue. I wanted to get up and run out of the room. I inched upwards, trying to stand, but Farkle yanked me down before I could run.

"Tell her," Lucas commanded.

"Tell me what?" Riley asked impatiently.

"Riley, I'm-" I began. Then I broke down. Tight sobs emerged from my mouth as I helplessly flopped down on the bed.

"Peaches?" She asked softly. Actually, I think she was screaming over me. But it didn't matter. She couldn't have been louder than my beating heart. I closed my eyes shut, hoping I'd disappear. But I was smarter than that. I was crying so hard I couldn't breathe.

"Maya's lesbian," Lucas blurted out. And suddenly, the world seemed to fall silent. I held a blank expression. I was quiet. No more sobs, no more tears. Riley was looking down at me. I tried to figure out her expression. I couldn't, though. Her eyes closed, and then when she opened them, her eyes were coated in thin gloss. Trails of it soon starting sliding down her cheeks.

"Riley?" I whispered.

"How," She whispered, "could you have not told me?"

After a moment, she continued between sobs. "You told them but not me! Best friends tell each other everything but you never tell me anything anymore! You've been avoiding me, too!"

"No," I whispered, "My mom kicked me out. I was too ashamed to show my face there."

"Oh, but you couldn't even tell me!" Riley screamed. "Fine!"

And just like that, my best friend...my crush..she left.

I'm sorry I haven't been updating :( I'm going to sleepaway camp tomorrow and I won't be back until July 15th. I won't have access to wifi but I'll be writing in the meantime so I can update when I return :-)
