At the park, Farkle and I sat on one of the benches waiting for the man. After about ten minutes, he arrived.
"Hello there," John chimed happily. "You must be Maya, I'm John Harris. It's wonderful to finally meet the face behind the art."
"It's great to meet you as well," I added professionally.
"And who might this be?" John asked, eyeing Farkle.
"Farkle Minkus. He's my friend."
"Well, nice to meet you as well," John said kindly. "Anyways, let's get down to business."
I glared at Farkle, warning him to not dare start singing Mulan. He raised his hands up in defense.
"I brought some samples to show you, if you'd like," I offered.
He looked through the paintings, seeming impressed with them all.
"You are very talented, Ms. Hart. The gallery is hosting an auction at the end of the month. The money raised goes to animal rescue companies such as ASPCA. We would like you to make all of the artwork for the event."
I gasped. Farkle's eyes widened.
John chuckled. "You will not be making profit for this event, but we'll provide all supplies. If the event is successful, you will be used for future events and paid then."
"Oh my God, I mean, um.." I laughed nervously. I was going crazy here. I was basically being signed to an art gallery.
"I'll give you a few minutes to think about it," John said, walking away.
It took about a second before both of us were squealing and hugging each other.
"I'm so proud of you, Maya!! Congratulations!"
I just smiled.
"So are you gonna do it?" Farkle inquired.
"Of course!!" I laughed, still jumping up and down.
Then, John returned. "I'm assuming your answer is-"
"Yes," I smiled.
