Today was the event. I looked through my closet. I couldn't find anything, so I just threw on the outfit that I had worn when I first met John.
I walked downstairs, and Mrs. Minkus gasped when she saw me. But unlike the first day I wore it, it wasn't a good gasp.
"Honey, you are not wearing that for your artist debut." Mrs. Minkus laughed. She gave me one finger, showing that she'd be right back. I waited patiently. She emerged from her car a few minutes later with a dark blue dress. It shimmered in the light. I put it on and looked in the mirror. A shiver went down my spine.
"It looks gorgeous," I said, twirling around.
"And so do you, honey," Mrs. Minkus said, hugging me.
"Thank you."
"Now come on, the event starts in two hours and you need to set up."
