(30) Age of Ultron Pt7

Landfall p.o.v.

Everyone was inside crowded in the Kitchen....minus Clints family. We were listening to what Fury had to say. My sister sat in between her sparkmates Fury looking at me and Tony as he made himself a sandwich that could fill Steve up, with everything he put on it. "Ultron, has an enemy, who keeps changing the nuclear codes every few seconds." Fury informed us.

"I think we may have an ally." Lifeguard said.

The conversation went on for a few more minutes, "So outwit the platinum bastard." Fury said.

"Careful sir, Cap doesn't like that kind of talk." Natasha teased getting some chuckles from around the table.

"You know what Natasha..." Steve said in a teasing warning.

I laughed and leaned against Tony, "You know Steve you have the vocabulary of a sailor's wife." Bucky pointed out.

"Only in the bedroom Bucky." Lifeguard replied with a knowing look.

I buried my face in Tony's chest and laughed as Steve turned a nice shade of pink at both his sparkmate's words, "Now for the twins, one of them is Sunny and Side's Sparkmate." I pointed out, "And as much as I want to kick their little asses all over for getting into certain Avenger's minds."

"The Maximoff twins are a threat," said Fury.

This caused our brothers to growl in anger at Fury's poor lack of words, "The girl will not be harmed neither will the brother." Sunny growled.

"Calm down Sunny. We won't let your sparkmate or her brother be harmed....intentionally." I said calming my big brother down. Sides sat there just quietly seething and glaring at anyone who said anything bad about their Sparkmate. I loved my brothers and had always wanted nothing but their happiness as all they did was care for Lifeguard and I and made sure we were happy. If it meant keeping the human and her brother alive then I would do my very best to do so.

Lifeguard's Pov

I was thinking about anything and everything Ultron could be after when it clicked, it appeared Bruce drew the same conclusion, "Has anyone been in contact with Helen Cho?" Bruce and I said at once.

Landfall froze, "Primus help us, I don't want to think about what Ultron could do with the cradle." my twin said.

"Avengers suit up we leave at first light," said Steve.

"Lifeguard to Arcee, it's time to activate Thata protocol." I sent over my internal com system.

"I shall inform the Deputy Director at once." came the reply.

I looked at Fury who gave me a knowing look, Steve was going to hate me for this as I shared what I had done with the others over our private coms.

~Sister, you have yet to inform them of the fact Fury and Optimus before he left named you Director of the new S.H.I.E.L.D.~ Landfall informed me over our bond.

"Avengers I have a bit of a confession to make," I said.

"Your not pregnant like your sister are you?" Tony asked.

I gave Tony a flat look to which my sister lightly popped him in the back of the head, "Ow, Lulu, why did you do that for?" Tony whined.

"She isn't pregnant slag for brains." Landfall said.

"Coulson is Deputy Director of the new S.H.I.E.L.D," I said.

"Who is the new Director?" Natasha asked a little shocked.

I took a breath, "I am." I said knowing this was not going to end well.

Steve's Pov

"I am," Liz said.

My brain froze this whole time Liz had been running the new S.H.I.E.L.D, the whole time. I stood up and left the room not hearing the broken sob Liz gave as I stormed out. I was upset that she kept this from us from me, not realizing Fury had followed me, "You know Cap, here I thought you would be happy that someone you trusted was the Director, I guess I was wrong." Fury said.

"How long?" I asked.

"Since she discovered Phil's team about a month after HYDRA was found out." Fury replied, "It wasn't only my call." 

I looked at Fury in shock, "Who else?" I asked.

"Prime." Fury said before walking off, "You may want to check on her, the way you acted I wouldn't be shocked if your pal Bucky kicked your ass." 

Fury was right I handled things poorly, though I didn't trust Fury much to start with, but to know Optimus had a hand in it. From the short time I knew the Autobot leader, I came to trust him as much as I trusted Liz and Bucky and now I may have messed it up because of my temper. I turned to head back in only to be stopped by her brothers, "Are you trying to offline our sister?" Sunny growled.

"I know I handled it poorly. Fury hid a lot of things from me when I first came out of the ice." I said.

Sides arched a brow, "Name one thing?" Sunny asked.

"The fact that S.H.I.E.L.D was making Tesseract Powered weapons right before the battle of New York." I pointed out.

The twins shared a look, "Not to mention Project Insight, which turned out to be HYDRA's idea." I added, "So you can see why I reacted the way I did when Fury was involved." 

Sunny nodded respecting the reply I had given him, "Very well, so Optimus appointing her with Fury is the saving grace as you fleshies would say." Sunny said.

"I trust Optimus," I said.

"Yes, because you remind him of you and vise versa." Sides pointed out.

"Never really seen it that way before, but you have a point," I replied chuckling a bit.

Now that I really thought about it there was a lot of similarities between Optimus and myself. We were both created to be leaders, we didn't like bullies, and we believed that everyone deserved to be free. The two moved to the side and I entered the room the others were already gone from the kitchen leaving Liz and Bucky. Bucky saw me and I swore I was looking at the Winter Soldier from the cold look he was giving me. I held up my hands, "I know I was an ass." I said.

"Ass hell punk, that was a dick move," Bucky replied.

"I know jerk," I replied.

Liz looked up at me and my heart about broke. I had made my best girl cry, seriously not the first time I made a girl cry. But it was the first time I made her cry.  I walked over to where she sat, "Liz, I'm sorry. I just hate secrets." I said.

"I should have told you sooner, it's on me more than it is you," she said softly.

"Let's agree to disagree, Fury told me both him and Optimus made the call." I said, "As much as I don't trust Fury at times..." 

"I know Fury made it a point to tell me that you didn't like him much," Liz said.

I put my hands on the sides of her face, "Just next time inform me, don't keep it in." I said.

"I promise, next time I will tell you everything," she said.

I removed my hands and picked her up, "Time to dry those tears." I said kissing her temple as Bucky followed behind me.

I was going to make it up to her by doing the only thing I could think of...I'll leave that for you to figure out...
