Chapter 10: Sneaking In

"Anything, Dove?"

"Nothing yet, Ayato. I think it's safe to sneak in."

Once Dove gave me the green light, I jumped out of the tree I was hiding in and rushed towards the mansion. Thanks to my chameleons, I was able to follow the crooks that escaped me.

I'm a little confused though. Both chameleons are in separate locations.

I noticed that one Chameleon was where the boss was, while the other was near a lake. I wanted to investigate why the other crook was near the lake, but my mission was the boss.

Since one of the crooks were closing in on their leader's location, I couldn't waste this opportunity.

I knew that I couldn't do this alone, so I called Dove to help me out. I always have her to scout out the area for me.

The place where the boss was hiding looked expensive and fancy as hell. I'm surprised that something like this can be bought.

The boss's location was a territory a mile or two south of the city. I wasn't able to do any research on the place, but I can tell that the boss owns this place.

There was a snow white mansion in the middle of a crop field. It was late at night, so I didn't get a good look at what was happening.

I did, however, spot one of the crooks that had my Chameleon. He didn't have his cloak hood on, so I was able to see his face.

He had Amber brown hair and appeared to be in his twenties. Hmm, his other partner looked more robust than him.

Anyway, the brown-haired crook walked through the crop field and towards the mansion. Since it's clear that the boss lives here, I can call off my Chameleon.

I then telepathically called the Chameleon. Once I gave it the order to return to me, it followed my command.

I also called Dove to pick up the Chameleon and head over to me.

"Ayato, something's up with the Chameleon," Dove told me.

"What's wrong?"

When Dove passed me the Chameleon, I noticed that it was shifting colors like crazy. It was turning blue, green, red, yellow, all kinds of colors.

Whoa, it just did a rainbow! Oops, I'm getting off topic.

"You okay?" I asked the Chameleon.

". . . N-no, I'm not!" The Chameleon squealed.

When it spoke, it did a color wave performance. Wow, this little guy's scared out of its mind.

"Alright, try to calm down."

"I can't! N-not after what happened!"

The Chameleon rolled up into a ball and continued to change colors at a remarkable speed. What the hell happened?

"Dove, try to get him to explain what happened. I need to get inside."

"Roger that!"

Dove acknowledged her order, and I continued to head over to the mansion.

Let's see what this place has in store for me.

[Young Lady, I can see the man that you encountered before.]

"You mean the cloaked man?"

[Indeed. The man is approaching the mansion.]

Wait, where's his partner? I know that there were two cloaked men.
