-Rachael's POV-

[Young Lady, are you okay?] Grace asked with a concerned voice.

"Not really." I plainly said.

[Is it about Ayato?]

". . . Yes."

I just couldn't shake the idea of working with that guy. He was rude, annoying, and he calls me a brat even though we're the same damn age!

I only worked with him before because we were in a rush, but now we have to continue it? I can't do that!

I'm not a team player, to begin with. I always did solo missions when I was with the clan because working with others wasn't my strong suit.

I knew this because I was running a team before after I was a senior member of the clan. Our mission was an assassination of some noble.

Everything was working in our favor until one of us got caught. Our whole operation was in the mud, and we had to retreat while also leaving one of our comrades behind.

I was conflicted about the mission since I failed to lead the team and complete it. That's when I decided to do missions on my own.

This way no one will slow me down and I can go at my own pace. That's how I did things, and it worked out for me.

But now I have to team up with someone. And this someone is a person that I despise more than anything.

Forget working about working with him, I'm more concerned about us not trying to kill each other because I know that at some point it's going to happen.

What was that bear thinking? I know that the bear and Forest Freak know each other, but grouping him with me just because we have a common enemy isn't good enough.

While I was pondering about this, I sensed someone approaching. Even though I was in a safe environment, I couldn't help but go on the defensive when someone gets close to me.

It turns out the presence was none other than the Forest Freak himself.

"What do you want?" I grumbled at him.

"Geez, can't you act a little more polite? You do realize that you're a guest here, right? Show some respect."

I felt a vein started to throb on my forehead. This guy was beyond unbearable.

"I didn't ask to come here. You should've left me alone."

"If I did, then you would've died."

"Why the hell do you care?!" I barked at him. "You keep calling me a brat and say that if I die then life would be easier for you, but when I near death, you came and save me. How hypocritical can you be?!"

He didn't say anything or fazed by what I said. He had this cold, calculating gaze when he looked at me.

It was sending shivers down my spine.

"You said that you wanted revenge on Marcus, right?" He asked me out of the blue.

"Yeah, that's right. That bastard made me his slave and made me go through hell. Killing him is everything to me."

"How did you even become his slave? How were you a slave in the first place?"

"Why are you asking me these questions?! What does it matter to you?!"

It was weird that this guy was asking me personal questions out of nowhere. It was also infuriating that he would ask me about my past as a slave when it's none of his business.
