"This is your fault." I started to blame Ninja Girl for letting Marcus get away.
The Ninja Girl didn't say anything while I was accusing and healing her. She just kept silent the entire time.
Unfortunately, Grace wasn't going to listen to this.
[The Young Lady didn't do anything wrong! She couldn't control her anger.]
Gee, I wonder why?
I took a long look at Grace knowing who to blame for this.
Man, these two are nothing but trouble for me. I'm pretty sure that if these two hadn't interfered with me, I would've been able to finish the job.
Thanks to them, we've lost Marcus and have no way of finding him. None of this would've happened if that brat hadn't lost her cool.
Something was bothering me, though. When we confronted Marcus, he called us out as if he knew us.
It must be because of the criminal from before. Speaking of which, where did he go?
I didn't sense his presence at all when we got inside. It was like he vanished from the plane of existence.
Not only that but that amulet from before. If I'm not mistaken, then that necklace Marcus was wearing was . . .
Before I could finish my train of thought, I noticed the Ninja girl weakly got up and limped away.
"What the hell are you doing?!" I barked at the injured girl. "You're still wounded from before!"
She said nothing and kept walking away. After staggering a couple of feet, she collapsed on the spot.
[Young Lady!] Grace ran towards Ninja girl and tried to help her up.
Good grief, she's going to get herself killed if she pushes herself like this. As I watched the two troublemakers make a fool of themselves, I kept thinking about Marcus and that amulet.
Something was definitely off about this whole situation, but I'll have to save that for later. What I need to do right now is leaving this place before more guards appear.
Just when I was about to bail, I took one last look at Ninja Girl and the Wolf guardian. That girl was still struggling to go after Marcus, but could barely move a muscle due to her injuries.
It looked pretty pathetic if I had to be honest. Not only did this moron charged at Marcus without knowing what she was up against, but she also didn't seem that skilled at fighting, or at least fighting someone at her level or higher.
She couldn't keep up with Marcus and had too many openings for her enemies to attack. Even if she was trained only on stealth attacks, she should've been able to defend herself when she's in a frontal assault.
Marcus mentioned something about this brat getting trained by some clan, right? Well, it's pretty obvious that whoever taught her how to fight did a poor job.
Sure, she's an expert at stealth take-downs, but that's all she can do. I've never seen her once battle an enemy without resorting to those tactics.
And since she was up against a skilled fighter like Marcus, it's not difficult to understand that she would fail. Plus, she's very reckless and doesn't try to analyze her situation before charging in.
I'm surprised that she was able to stay alive this long. Actually, she would've been dead earlier if I hadn't interfered.
If I hadn't saved her just then, she would've died right then and there. I should've just let that happened, but my impulse got the best of me, and I jumped in without thinking.
