Dylan was at the hospital getting his first round of chemo, Sam tagged along with his boyfriend. The yellowish fluid was flowing into the IV right into his delicate veins that pumped blood right into his golden heart. Dylan's eyes were closed, he floated within his frame and imagined his life before cancer. He had repressed the feelings he felt for the same because he thought Sam hated him. Now it's close to being a month together under very extreme circumstances. Sam watched Dylan relax into the hospital chair, even with the pallid complexion he still looked effervescent. Dylan opened his eyes to see Sam fawning over his body. Dylan began to giggle
"What are you looking at?" Sam smiled and scooted closer and caressed his soft rosy cheek, "I'm just staring at the best thing that's happened to me."
Dylan smiled before leaning over the chair and throwing it up into the trashcan. The chemo was making him super sick already.
Sam sat up slowly while Dylan was getting sick. After a few minutes of dry heaving, Dylan sat back up, wiping away the drool hanging from his bottom lip.
"You okay babe?" Sam had a look of concern plastered all across his face.
Dylan shuttered then shrugged, "get me a blanket babe, and it's okay, it's doxorubicin, it should knock out this nasty."
Sam began to feel a lump form in the back of his throat, the feeling of hurt and stress was forming and it was going to be a surefire storm of emotions. Dylan was relaxing and watched the chemo bag slowly empty. Between this and Rowena casting spells, there was a guarantee that he was going to be getting sick daily. After the appointment, Dylan was sleeping in the passenger side seat while Sam drove back to the bunker. Sam felt the emotions stick into his throat, he didn't know how to let these feelings out, especially when it was about the man that he has so much love for. He knew Dylan's chance of survival was low, and he knew Dylan didn't have high hopes of surviving. As he pulled into the driveway he sees Rowena and Meg chatting up a storm.
Sam woke Dylan up and carried him into the bunker and put him gently on the beige couch in his room.
Sam followed back outside to the two women.
Sam smiled slightly seeing Meg, "Dylan will be glad that you're around. He's missed you a lot."
Meg smiled and chuckled, "I would have come around more, but I didn't want to be killed and sent back to hell."
Rowena interjected to give Sam the rundown of the plan, "Well, I've gotten some spells that have given a rundown to help heal. I have all the ingredients in the bunker now and will work with the wee boy tonight."
Sam inhaled deeply, Dylan was going to be so opposed to it once he would feel the pain.Dylan woke up on the couch looking up at the blank ceiling, he doesn't remember leaving the car. He felt extremely sick and ran to the bathroom, he began to puke in the downstairs toilet.
Dean walked in on Dylan getting sick and stood behind him and rubbed his back.
"It's okay, just breathe and let it out." At this point, he was dry heaving. He felt like death had possessed him.
Dean picked him up and carried him back out to Sam's room.
Dylan looked at Dean and smiled slightly, the green-eyed monster turned into a pile of care and love.Dean and Rowena were talking while Meg and Sam mix the ingredients.
Dean started to break down, "this a sure-fire win right?"
Rowena sighed, "Dylan would have to comply with the pain that would be following to allow it. No pain meds and no sleep the first 24 hours."
Dean walked to the room again to sit with Dylan.
Dylan looked over at the handsome man as he strode towards the sick boy.
Dylan smiled, "I guess you're here to tell me it's time."
Dean laid next to him and held him.
Dylan began to weep, he knew he was near closing days. Dean sobbed into Dylan's shoulder.
Dylan turned to him and kissed Dean's lips.
"You gotta be strong Dean, for me and Sam."
Dean looked into his hazel eyes, they popped as they were surrounded by pallid skin. Dean felt the heat rising between him and Dylan, he knew this was an infatuation, but wondered where it would lead.
Dean carried Dylan out to the couch, where Dylan saw Rowena and Meg at the kitchen table, Sam was on the couch.
Rowena walked over to Dylan with a cup of dark-colored liquid.
Rowena handed it to him, "no matter how bad it hurts or how bad you wanna sleep, no pain pills and no sleep the first 24 hours."
Dylan nodded and squeezed Sam's hand before throwing the drink back.
Dylan immediately felt what like electricity take the course in his body. Meg watched Dylan's body light up and saw blue and purple shades appear through his transparent pallid skin.
After drinking it all Dylan started crying and screaming about how bad it hurt. Meg ran over to Dylan and held him, letting him squeeze and pull whatever to help with the pain.
"It fucking hurts Meg!! It hurts so fucking bad!"
Sam started to cry and ran out of the room.
Dylan was puking from how bad it hurt. He couldn't deal with the pain, but he had to or else it wouldn't work. He would go right back to being cancer-ridden. Rowena walked into the kitchen like nothing was going on, Meg trailed her.
"You have to tell me there is something you can do for this pain?"
Rowena turned around and was in shock with the hostility that she felt from the brunette demon.
Rowena sighed, "the spell has its own pain-killing properties, it'll do good."
Meg looked back at Dylan, watching him suffer.
"That doesn't look like it's doing anything but hurting him!"
Rowena rolled her eyes, "my dear, who's the demon and who's the witch?"
Meg huffed and walked into the living room and held Dylan, trying to make him as comfortable as possible.
Sam walked back in, he saw Dylan whimpering in Meg's arms and felt his world come down. He walked over and picked Dylan up to take him to his room to at least rest.Dylan laid down looking at Sam, he kept pacing and rubbing his eyes, they've both been up for 17 hours now. Dylan sat up, the first time he's made a major move. He made it liberally but he sat up and patted the seat next to him to bring Sam over. He slowly walked over and sat down, Dylan grabbed a hold of his hand and held it.
"Baby, I'm dying."
Sam started to cry and Dylan continued, "I'm dying and that's okay baby. I have a will and.. and a bank account for you and Dean to use for when I'm gone."
Sam took a deep breath and held Dylan's face, "you're not dying today, tomorrow, or next year, got it?" Dylan laid back before leaning over to get sick, which was a pile of tumors and blood.
Sam and Dylan both look puzzled for a few before Dylan fell over and felt like his body wasn't even cancer-ridden. He sat up and jumped up like he never was in pain, Sam grinned and chuckled before screaming and racing to pick Dylan up kissing him.
Dean, Rowena, and Meg ran down to see Sam making out with a smiling Dylan.
Rowena grinned, "not all witches are evil deary."
Dean and Meg both squished her with a hug before rushing to overly excited Dylan.
Sam took a step back to watch Dylan's excitement. He knew that this was one big chance for him to make things right, to make sure he isn't gonna screw it up.At the doctors the next day Dylan was scheduled for an X-ray and a CT scan to see if the tumors were still there and metastasized into new parts of his body.
Dr. Sexton was looking over the scans and looked in disbelief, no Mets, no tumors, nothing at all.
"Well, Dylan, everything is clean. Turns out you're tumors weren't bad at all. You're cancer-free."
Dylan sighed heavily while sitting next to Sam. He looked at the x-rays and looked in disbelief, his spine and hips were once infected with tumors and Mets, now everything is clean. Just like cancer never had existed in his body.
Dylan quietly sobbed and grabbed a hold of Sam's hand and got up to hug him.
The cancer was actually gone, a moment Dylan never thought would happen. Sam looked down at the scans too, he smirked and chuckled. "Dylan, it's gone. It is over, you're cancer-free."
Dylan looked at him and started to sob. For the first time in months, he felt healthy enough to do stuff on his own.
Dean, Sam, and Ellen were always running errands for him, cooking for him, and sometimes cleaning up puke from the floor. Dylan was finally able to go out and do stuff. He was able to run, swim, drive, sing, work out, go hunting with Ellen and Sam.Walking out of North Dakota's Cancer national institute and ringing the bell and hearing all the claps made Dylan feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. They continued to walk to the car and started the journey back home.
In the car, Dylan fell silent, he was still baffled that the spell worked. Sam grabbed his hand and squeezed it. Dylan looked at Sam and felt something, he felt safe and secured, almost like he didn't need to fear anything anymore.Back in the bunker Rowena and Meg were sitting on the couch and Ellen and Dean were standing, pacing the living room when Sam and Dylan walked in. Meg's face showed she was concern about something, Ellen was crying and Dean kept rubbing his face.
That's when Rowena continued, "Sam needs to Dylan that the spell isn't gonna be permanent. It might work for years but it's not enough to stop him from developing it in the future, the only way for Dylan to live is for Sam to die."Dylan looked at Sam, who looked like a wave of emotions finally came rushing out through his soft hazel eyes.
While they were asking Rowena for favors, Ellen stopped her to ask her one last favor.
"Look red, I know you're busy and I know we are all focused on Dylan, but could you bring back my daughter?"
Rowena looked at her, smiling.
"Look behind you."
Behind Ellen was happy, and a very real Joanna Beth Harvelle. Jo ran up to Ellen and hugged her tightly. They both missed each other so much.
Ellen held her baby girl's hand for the first in so long.
Death and new life.
