6: The Ghost Of You

Kira~
It was the morning of Thanksgiving and I still had a horrible fever. Gerard and Lindsey had no clue what to do until a miracle in a Bring Me The Horizon hoodie showed up.
Dean walked into my room carrying a bag full of stuff and set it in my chair.

        "Your hero is here!" I let out a laugh as he took off his beanie.
        "Your hair is everywhere." I croaked out, laying back down. "Okay, you lay down and I'm gonna talk to Gerard." Dean left the room and I stared at the ceiling until I felt sleep take over me.

I walked downstairs to where Gerard and Lindsey were talking.
        "Are you sure your mom is okay with you watching Kira?" I nodded.
        "She's gonna save me some food and I'll check in with her every so often. Plus, my family isn't leaving until tomorrow afternoon so I'll see them."

        Gerard pulled me away and handed me a bottle.
        "These are Kira's meds to help her feel better but do not leave them in her sight." I looked at the bottle.
        "Why? It's medicine." Gerard shook his head.
        "The other day, I found her trying to take an entire bottle of aspirin and we've kept a close eye on her since. That's why I'm a little freaked out with leaving her on Thanksgiving." Why would Kira try to overdose?

        "She'll be okay. I'll call if there's any problems." Gerard patted my shoulder and the three of them left. I went upstairs to check on Kira and found her fast asleep, her arm sprawled across her pillow. I moved her sleeve down a bit to see red angry lines scattered across.
        "Oh, Kira." I sighed and went back downstairs. As soon as I got to the kitchen, my phone started ringing.

        "Hello?" I started looking through the fridge for a snack and found some grapes.
        "Hey, what's up?" It was Lizzy.
        "Just watching Kira while the Way's went to thanksgiving at Gerard's parents' house." I put some grapes in a bowl and washed them.
        "Cool. How is Kira? Also, Tess was giving me really odd looks yesterday, what's up with that?" I sighed.

        "Tess broke up with me last week because she thinks that you and Kira are trying to steal me and she called me a stuck-up brat with no social life." I popped a grape into my mouth.
        "Well, she's a bitch." Lizzy scoffed and I agreed.

        Soon, we ended the call and I went back upstairs to check on Kira. She was awake but she was staring at the ceiling.
        "Kira?" She looked at me and gave a half smile.
        "Here." I pulled the bottle of meds Gerard gave me and dumped out two pills. I handed them to her and her water and she swallowed them.

        "How you feeling?" She sat up.
        "Better but still like shit." I let out a laugh.
        "Hey, I wanna talk to you about something," I sat down on the edge of the bed and looked at her. "Has what Emma did to you gotten to you at all?" She shook her head.

        "Are you lying to me?" Kira looked down. "Kira, Gerard told me what you tried to do a few days ago. Why? You have so much potential and you're so amazing," I grabbed her hands and looked her in the eye.

        "And this," I pulled up her sleeves and softly rubbed my finger against the red lines, "This shouldn't be the answer. Swallowing an entire bottle of aspirin shouldn't be the answer. If you have a problem, you can talk to me, or Lizzy, or Gerard. He cares about you so much and I care about you so much."

        Kira started crying and I pulled her into a hug.
        "I'm sorry." She croaked out. I rubbed circles on her back as she let it all out.

        After awhile, she pulled away and I grabbed her wrists one more time.
        "Can you promise me that if you ever feel like doing this again, that you'll talk to me? Or go to Gerard?" She nodded.

        "I promise." Her voice was definitely the same as when I got here but her smile had a bit more life in it.
        "You should tell Gerard about this. He'll have a good thing to say." She nodded.
        "He already talked to me about it." I nodded.

        "Hungry?" She smiled.
        "Starving." And I helped her downstairs to get some food.
