When we got home, Baylee and Gabe went to Baylee’s room for sleep. Spinner sat on the couch eating potato chips and counted the money. I sat next to him eating the chips.

“Wow! Two hundred dollars. Normally I get fifty dollars.” Said Spinner.

“That’s great.” I said. Spinner put the money in his pocket and yawned.

“I need some sleep.” Said Spinner as he went to his room. I walked down to my room and changed into sleepwear. My body was so tired I just crashed into the bed and fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up and went into the kitchen to make coffee. Baylee and Gabe were in the kitchen making pancakes. I sat at the table and yawned.

“What some?” asked Baylee as she flipped two onto a plate? I was starving all I ate yesterday was half a yogurt and potato chips. Gabe brought me the plate and silverware. I tried not to notice he was walking around in his boxers. Knowing Baylee, I knew nothing happened. It just always appeared as though something did. I cut up the pancakes and started to eat them. The pancakes were great.

“Thanks, these are really good.” I said as I kept eating. Baylee and Gabe came and sat next to me.

“Do you have work today?” asked Gabe. Unfortunately I did because Shop Rite is my only job so I have to work all week with no breaks besides going to school.

“Yes, Baylee can you give me a ride at one?” I asked.

“Sure.” Said Baylee. I put my plate and silverware into the sink and jumped into the shower. When I got out, I changed into a gray Paramore tee and jeans. I ran my fingers through my hair then brushed my teeth. Baylee walked into the bathroom.

“Almost ready to go?” she questioned. I spit into the sink and opened the door then ran into my room and slid a random pair of shoes on.

“Let’s go.” I said. Baylee and I left the apartment. Gabe must have already left because I hadn’t seen him since my breakfast. We got in the car and drove to work. I found it strange that Baylee wasn’t busy, I would have figured she would’ve had a project to do.

“Got any projects today?” I asked.

“Yeah, the local library needs some new artwork. I’m going there after I drop you off. Spinner will pick you up.  After the library, I’m going to this art opening with Gabe.” Said Baylee.

“Nice.” I said.

“After work, are you doing anything?” asked Baylee. I had nothing planned. Baylee made me realize that my life is going to become very closed in.

“Just work.” I said. It got really quiet in the car. We pulled into the parking lot of Shop Rite. Baylee parked the car and I jumped out. I ran inside and went to Kevin’s office to grab my work shirt. Quickly, I changed shirts and headed to my station in silence. As I bagged groceries, I couldn’t stop daydreaming about Gavin. It was as though talking to him that one occasion feed my Petrarch type of love for him.

Before I knew it, my shift was over. I looked over at Gavin who was also walking away from his station. I walked away and caught up with him. He smiled.

“Hey Rose, I never knew you worked here.” Said Gavin. I smiled.

“Yeah, it’s only my second day.” I said.

“Nice. We should hangout outside of school and work sometime!” He exclaimed. Inside I wanted to squeal, but knew I would look foolish. Instead I smiled.

“Yeah.” I said as we walked into Kevin’s office. Gavin grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down his number. He handed me the piece of paper. I took off the tee shirt and left it on the desk till tomorrow.

“Call me.” Said Gavin as I walked out of the office. I headed out to the parking lot and heard Spinner’s horrible driving coming into the parking lot. He parked the car and I hopped in. It was Sunday night and typically we all got out to the café, but it seemed that everyone had separate plans.

“You don’t have to come to the café tonight if you don’t want to.” Said Spinner. I wondered what would make him think I didn’t want to go.

“I want to go.” I said. Spinner smiled and put his arm around me again. It didn’t make me feel uncomfortable, I actually really liked it.
