At the end of my shift at Shop Rite, Gavin came up to me as I was walking to Kevin’s office.

“Rose!” shouted Gavin. I smiled as we entered the office and I removed the tee shirt.

“Do you want to go out to dinner?” asked Gavin. In my fantasy, I would have said yes and be the happiest girl alive. This was reality and it was as though another man is plotting to hold my heart, Spinner.

“Sorry, I have plans.” I lied as I walked out of the office and headed out to Spinner’s car. Spinner was leaning against the car like the guys in the movies, looking all “bad boy” with a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He through it to the ground and we got in the car. I kissed him. His lips were soft and he was just perfect.

“Wait.” Said Spinner. I removed my lips from his mouth. Was I a bad kisser? I didn’t know what to say.

“Did I do something?” I said.

“No, you’re perfect. Before we move further, what is this? Do you want to be my girlfriend?” asked Spinner. My imaginative mind was telling me to say no and that I now stand a chance with the guy I’ve been wanting almost my whole life. On the other hand, my heart was telling me to take this chance and that I wouldn’t regret it.

“Do you want to be my boyfriend?” I asked to stall my answer.

“Yes, but do you want to be my girlfriend?” exclaimed Spinner. I couldn’t say no he was perfect. Maybe he is the prince charming I’ve been waiting for. We kissed again. I removed my lips from Spinner’s.

“Yes, more than anything.” I said. Spinner drove back to the apartment. After hearing myself say the more than anything part, I realized it sounded cliche. What’s Baylee going to think, I thought?

“What will Baylee say?” I asked. Spinner smirked.

“Not sure.” Said Spinner. Speaking of the artist herself, she was calling me. I answered and put her on speaker phone.

“Hey, when you get home Gabe and I have news!” Exclaimed Baylee.

“As do I.” said Spinner. I smiled as I hung up the phone. The rest of the car ride was quiet. I was excited that my first relationship happened with someone who I’ve gotten to know for a while. We pulled into the apartment and headed inside.

When we entered the apartment, Gabe and Baylee were sitting on the couch holding each other’s hands. Gabe’s lips were tightly pressed against Baylee’s forehead. Spinner and I sat on the couch as well. I couldn’t tell if Baylee and Gabe were ok, it worried me.

“What’s your news?” I asked worried.

“You know how we talked about me moving in with Gabe?” Baylee reminded me.

“Yes.” I said.

“We are going to do it!” Exclaimed Baylee. I smiled in relief.

“There’s two parts to our news.” Said Gabe.  There’s more! I thought, what else could there possibly be?

“What else?” I asked.

“I’m umm... pregnant.” Said Baylee. I was shocked my jaw might have fallen to the floor. Baylee couldn’t tolerate kids, that’s why she never got a job babysitting or anything like that. I couldn’t tell her she was crazy because this is reality and this is the part where I, her best friend need to support her choices.

“Congratulations, you’re going to make a great mom.” I said as I hugged her. Spinner looked shocked.

“What about New York?” asked Spinner as he held my hand?

“We are going to keep it in mind, but preparing for this baby comes first. After we buy all the baby stuff, we will see what we have left and make a decision then.” Said Gabe. That sounded like an appropriate plan.

“What about college?” asked Spinner?

“It’s going to have to wait.” Said Baylee. What Baylee and Gabe are saying sounds good because they’re being realistic and aren’t going to take risks. I smiled.

“You guys can be an uncle and an aunt to the baby.” Said Gabe. Baylee smiled. Being an aunt sounded fun.

“Great idea.” I said.

“So what was your news, Spinner?” asked Baylee. Spinner looked at me and smiled. I leaned my head against him.

“Rose and I are dating.” Said Spinner as he looked into my eyes and kissed me. I kissed him back.

“Saw that coming.” Said Baylee as she threw her hands in the air. I laughed.

“You guys are cute together. Maybe this is a good thing, you guys have your own place and we have our own place.” Said Gabe. He had a point. Suddenly I felt my phone buzz, it was Gavin. I couldn’t help, but want to answer it.

“Be right back.” I said letting go of Spinner’s hand and heading to my room. I locked the door and answered my phone.

“How did you get my number?” I asked.

“Magic.” Said Gavin. I laughed.

“Do you want to go out tonight?” asked Gavin. I couldn’t say yes, I’m with Spinner. My heart was telling me to say no, but it was as though my mind was living in an unescapable fantasy.

“Sure.” I said with regret.

“Great, meet me at the pizza place next to the tattoo parlor.” Said Gavin as he hung up. How was I going to get there without causing suspicion? I’ll say I’m going on a walk. I left my room and dashed for the door.

“Where are you going it’s ten at night?” asked Baylee.

“A walk.” I said.

“Let me come with.” Said Spinner.

“No.” I said as I dashed out of the house and ran to the pizza parlor.
