I woke up the next morning, Baylee was standing in the doorway drinking coffee.

“I swear I wasn’t watching you sleep. I’ve just never seen this room as a bedroom before, it’s really nice.” Said Baylee. I couldn’t remember seeing her last night after she went out to dinner.

“When did you get back? I didn’t hear you come in.” I said.

“Like eleven maybe. After the dinner, the gentlemen interested in my pieces and I headed back to one of the houses to have a few fancy drinks.” Explained Baylee. I got up out of bed and looked at my phone. It was eight in the morning. I yawned.

“What do we have going on today?” I asked as we walked into the kitchen.

“Well I’m leaving in a half hour to start a project with one of the guys from last night and I’m not sure when I’m back like always. Spinner’s at Starbucks till noon. When he comes home he’s taking you to Shop Rite for work. Tonight we are all going to the café for Spinner’s show.” Explained Baylee as she left to get in the shower. I sat at the small sturdy table in the kitchen and thought about what I could do while everyone’s gone.

Suddenly someone was knocking at the door. I got up to go see what it was. When I opened the door it was a twenty year old man dressed in a suit. He seemed like one of the guys Baylee did art for.

“Hi, you must be here for Baylee. You can come in.” I said realizing I answered the door in my Pajamas.

“Thanks.” Said the man as he came inside. The man walked into the living room and sat on the couch. I didn’t want the man to sit there bored.

“Do you want some coffee?” I asked.

“No thanks. Unlike you, I don’t need stimulants.” Said the man annoyed.

“What type of project is Baylee doing for you?” I asked because Baylee never told me. The man gave me a confused look.

“Oh umm… just a few paintings for my kitchen and some other stuff.” Said the man sounding as though he was hiding something. Baylee walked into the room dressed up in a floral dress and nude wedges. The man got up and kissed Baylee. I gave Baylee a worried look. What was going on? Are they dating? I’m so confused, where have I been for the past seven months. I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge and took out a Greek yogurt. In the dishwasher, I grabbed a spoon and walked back into the living room.

“See you later.” Said Baylee as she walked out of the house. The man walked towards me and slid me one hundred dollars then left the house. This made me think they were dating. I threw away the cup of yogurt leaving the spoon in the sink and went to take a shower.

After my shower, I got dressed for work. I threw on a plain blue shirt and a pair of jeans. My phone was buzzing all the way from the kitchen, I ran and grabbed it.

“Hello.” I said.

“Are you out of your mind?” asked Dad.

“No, I’m being myself.” I said.

“Get yourself back into this house right now.” He shouted.

“I’m eighteen legally I can do whatever I want.” I said as I hung up on him. I saw my coffee on the table and drank the rest of it. Spinner came in through the door.

“Let me just change then we can go.” Said Spinner. I wondered if he knew what was going on with Baylee.

“Wait. What’s up with Baylee and that guy?” I asked.

“What guy?” asked Spinner?

“Some guy came by a half hour ago and went off for the day with Baylee.” I said.

“Oh, sometimes the guys she does art for pick her up because we only had the one car.” Said Spinner.

“Ok well do they kiss her and does she get all dressed up?” I asked. Spinner gave me a confused look.

“No, why?” asked Spinner.

“They seemed pretty friendly.” I said. Spinner rolled his eyes and headed to his room. I put on some flats and waited by the door. Spinner grabbed his keys and opened the door.

“Let’s go.” He said.
