Just like Emma had told her everything was fine, no more haunting. On one hand, she was glad. No more getting late to meetings because she couldn't find what she needed. On the other hand, she no longer had an excuse to seek for Emma.
Unexpectedly it was Emma who kept being haunted. The morning after having Regina over she woke up feeling watched. Roaming her eyes all over the room she caught the sight of brown eyes just like the previous night. With a groan, she got out of bed and put her robe on.
"What are you doing here. Didn't you cross over last night?" Emma questioned in an annoyed tone.
"You know those things in movies where someone sees the light, walks over to it, and then they're gone? Yeah, there was no light so clearly, you did something wrong," Danielle answered her with an equal tone.
"That's not how it works. If you have some unfinished business I help you solve it and then you can cross over. So that means Regina was not your unfinished business after all," Emma said with a defeated sigh. She'd rather be anywhere but in this situation.
"Well? What is it then?"
"How am I supposed to know? It's your life, not mine. You need to realise what you haven't solved and then come to me. In the meanwhile, I am going to make some breakfast for me and my daughter," Emma said leaving the room and going to the kitchen. When she got there, Danielle was already prompt on top of the counter, "Oh, for God's sake," she muttered under her breath.
"How am I supposed to know that? As far as I know, everything is sorted. There's no relationship going on, nothing work related, I've already told what I had to Regina..." Danielle said with a thoughtful look.
"Maybe you pissed someone off. You sure are pissing me off," she said setting the table for breakfast.
"I'm pissing you off..." she said to herself, "that's it!" she exclaimed after a minute, "I am pissing you off! You are my unfinished business," she stated, proud of her discovery.
"Yeah... I don't think that's it. I don't have anything to say to you and I doubt you have anything to say to me.
"I need to make you see!" she said and Emma raised an eyebrow in question, "I need to make you see how sorry Regina is and make you give her a chance."
"Good try, just keep thinking. I am going to wake up Allison. Please don't be here when we come back downstairs, let me have a moment in peace," she asked before leaving to her daughter's room. Walking back to the kitchen, this time with Allison by her side, Emma was relieved that Danielle had actually listened to her and gone away. However, Emma kept thinking about what she said, seemed way too sure that her unfinished business was in fact, Emma. But it couldn't be, right? Emma had come to terms about her friendship with Regina a long time ago. Sure, it took time and it wasn't until Allison was born and she had another thing to focus on that she stopped thinking about it every day, but she had gotten over it.
Emma took Allison to school and when she was going back to her car to her car Danielle was there waiting for her, "how did you enjoy your moment of peace?" she asked appearing inside the car beside Emma.
"It wasn't nearly as long as I was hoping it would be," Emma answered starting the car, "you know what your unfinished business is yet?"
"Yep. It's you."
"Oh, God. Fine, I'll go with it. Tell me why."
"That's easy. I took the most important person in your life away from you, now I need to give them back. I need to give Regina back to you."
"Regina is no one's property."
"No... No, she is not. But you two belong together, even I can see that" Danielle shrugged off.
