Amara took Kaia through a door on the right. Behind the door was a long torch lit hall with another door at the end. They walked slowly. Kaia's energy clearly running out.
It was common with those newly resurrected. Their energy supply slowly replenished itself causing the first couple days to be very drained feeling. Now at the door Amara reached out and knocked on the door.
"Lucien, is that you in there!?" She said through the door. "I have someone who needs to see you."
Kaia heard some shuffling behind the door before it opened to reveal the 'Lucien' this girl must have been asking for.
Lucien heard the knocks. It was too soon. Amara was moving too quickly but that was how she operated. Quick, efficient, effective. He wasn't ready. He forced the panic down and opened the door. He needed to act calm and collective.
"Nice of you to finally pop by Amara." He said a low masculine voice. "Who must you be?"
Kaia simply looked at the male standing in the door. The ever so familiar golden eyes of the beast striking fear in her. He couldn't be....could he? His long straight black hair loosely tied back, black tribal tattoos going up his right arm, and his black pants giving him a human look put her at a bit at ease. Her eyes now drawn to a black choker around his neck with what appeared to be a chain link.
Lucien could see Kaia staring and he did not say anything. Instead he flash-backed to seeing this girl so full of life (unlike how she appeared now) in the clearing of the forest. Singing and dancing with her short shoulder length blond hair blowing in the wind and her white summer dress flowing with her every movement.
He did not know why the beast took over but he'd regret not being able to control it every day of his life. The fear he saw in her eyes struck sorrow in his heart and reminded him of the countless not so lucky victims the beast destroyed before her. How could he ever make it up to her? At the very least he had to try and make her not fear him.
"I'm Lucien...." He said.
Amara watched the two's interaction. Should she step in? She should pressure Kaia in? Would it trigger the beast's appearance? She had to do something?
"Shall we come inside, Lucien?" Amara asked. "There is a lot to explain to Kaia."
Lucien nodded and moved out of the doorway, welcoming them into his home.
The inside of Lucien's home is not what one would expect from the how the hall led to a single door. One would assume he simply had a room behind the door but no, his place was large and beautiful. It wasn't enormous or anything like that but like the size of an apartment if one needed a comparison. He had stairs that went to a loft like area where he had his bedroom, a 52 inch television on the wall below the loft with leather furniture, a beautiful painting on another wall, and to their right a bit, his kitchen.
Kaia looked around in shock. She had no idea how any of this could be possible. How could a man stand here with the same eyes of the beast that had chased her and ultimately led her here? Her thoughts were racing, her energy draining.
"Bigger than you thought?" Lucien said trying to lighten the intensity of the conversation ahead.
"Her energy must be next to nothing at this point." He thought to himself, slightly flashing back to his arrival here and how quickly he was completely out of energy.
"How....." Kaia managed to get out before she fell to the ground in exhaustion.
