Lucien opened his door and let Kaia enter.
"If you'd like you could sit and I'll make tea once again." He said. "It's kind of my go to thing when Amara's here."
"Sure. I'd love a tea." Kaia said.
While Lucien did that, Kaia took the opportunity to look around a bit. The pictures he had were fascinating but one on the bed table stood out the most. It was a beautiful picture of Lucien and Amara, the smiles on their faces bringing a smile to Kaia's.
"That was last year." Lucien said. "It's nice having someone new to talk to."
Kaia looked at him. She liked the idea of having someone new to talk to as well.
Lucien had no idea what he was thinking. 'Someone new to talk to' pfftt yea only killed you to get you here to talk to....stupid....
She probably disliked him now or thought he was an idiot. Her response however was not what he expected. She took the tea he'd been holding.
"It's nice to have someone new or even someone in general to talk to. I mean the way I came here kind of sucked but it's nice here. I feel relaxed, at home. You know? It's a bit stressful cuz' there's so much to learn and stuff but it just feels like I belong." She said, her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink. "I mean, Amara made sure my family is looked after so I really not needed there."
Lucien sighed in relief that Kaia had understood his intentions with the statement he had made.
"Amara mentioned that she was able to show you your family....how did it feel?" He asked. "I'm sorry if that's too forward, feel free to tell me I'm an idiot and should shut up."
Kaia chuckled.
"Not at all. It was surreal. I mean, she's gotten them so well taken care of that they'll never need me again. I feel like part of me should be a bit sad that I won't be needed or really missed but I can't help but to just feel relieved. Relieved that I can just be me without worry of them. To know that no matter when I'm ready or how long it takes, they will be fine." She said.
"Do you miss them?" Lucien asked.
"A bit. They are my family after all but again I just feel relief. I feel as if it maybe is that way because I was there out of their need and always had to be. Now I'm happy for the break." She said.
Amara had been right. His guilt his worry was not necessary. It was a horrible thing that had happened but it did for a reason. He could see that now. There was an indescribable feeling of joy and happiness that he had gotten this chance to really talk to Kaia. He had not thought the conversation to have taken the turn but he was glad it did.
"Lucien...." Kaia said.
He snapped out of his thoughts.
"Yes." He said in response.
"Don't take this a wrong or weird way but I'm happy the beast did what it did. It brought me here and here is where I needed to be all along." She said.
Lucien could feel a year threatening to drop from his eye.
"I imagine you beat yourself up about it but please don't, rest assured I'm happier here than I've ever been I do believe." She said simply.
"Thank you." Was all he could manage to get out.
Kaia chuckled.
"I'm sure that was more intense of a conversation either of us intended." She said.
"You can say that again." Lucien said agreeing. "Glad it did though."
Kaia nodded.
"I like getting to know the man behind the beast." She said.
With that and now an awkward silence as they both just looked into each other's eyes, Amara's voice sounded.
"I'm done." It said. "Come on back."
