ch. 18

He talks in that way that makes your heart melt, makes your heart sink so far that the tears that well at your eyes aren't enough to compare to the feelings you get, the feelings you crave. Touch warm but heart cold, you make me dizzy and my head just spins at the thought of being with you and you can't just do that to a person. Can you?

In the morning when I woke, I had almost a dozen missed texts from Cole, yet he was not home. Apartment still empty, I threw my phone under his pillow and went to the kitchen. I made myself an espresso, head hurting as I took two aspirins. Then came the knock.

"KJ, open the door I don't have my key." Cole's voice echoed, as I quickly turned around to face the door. Reluctantly, I walked towards the door. I unlocked it, allowing Cole to walk in as he embraced me tightly. I did not hug back.

"KJ I missed you, so so much. I'm so sorry about everything from the paparazzi to the stalker to your apartment- I'm so so sorry I wasn't there for you." He said, eyes wide as he searched for a reply.

"Then where were you?"

"Lili invited me over and Alicia told me I couldn't turn her down so I went out and then she kissed me and the paparazzi was all over us, and I was going to tell you and come talk to you but I just-"

"You left! You fucking left me alone, do you know how hard I cried myself to sleep? I had to cover my mouth to hide my sobs, and no person should ever fucking feel that way, especially me. I have put myself- us, through so much and you just decide to not tell me and leave?"

"KJ it wasn't like that I just-"

"Oh yeah of course it wasn't!" I yelled back quickly, backing up as Cole came toward me, tripping on my own foot as I knocked into the speaker that began playing music. I tried turning it off, then smacking it repeatedly until Cole caught my hand and I broke down in tears.

"Y-you left-" I choked out, sobbing as Cole wrapped his arms around me.

"Shhh, I'm here now." Cole breathed, rocking us back and forth slowly.

After a few minutes I sniffled, rubbed my nose and stood up.

"Don't you ever, ever fucking do that to me again. You're mine, okay?" I said, lips attaching to Cole's sweetly.

"I love you." He breathed against my lips, as I kissed him yet again.

The apartment was a mess of boxes, after a day or two of deciding we needed to go out and get ourselves a new house where no one would bother us or get the paparazzi on us. We also decided we needed a bigger space than a small studio apartment. I was packing things at my own apartment while Cole was at his. He had an interview today with Lili about their new-found "relationship."

Alicia forgot to tell Lili she was just a beard. Of course she did.

"So how are you going to tell her?"

"Probably before the interview." Cole's voice echoed through the phone.

"Don't do that! It'll crush her... maybe do it after."

"Like that makes it any better!" He sighed, finishing up with one of the boxes.

"Look at my baby boy being all cute packing boxes." I said, turning my head to the side as he stuck his tongue out.

"This is why I don't facetime you. Okay I have to go to the interview now, meet you at the open house closing after?"

"Yup, love you. Bye." I said as he waved and blew a kiss. I hung up the call, and stood up. Almost everything was packed except for the big things which would be brought over by the movers in a few days, and some clothes to wear while we waited on closing up the deal on the new house.

When I decided to walk to set that day, herds of paparazzi and people came running and screaming at me. My phone buzzed as I saw the trending twitter moment with my name appear in it.

'KJ Apa's Crazy Psycho Stalker- Caught or Not?'

Caught I should hope. I took a deep breath of the harsh air around me, the smell of busy cars and LA traffic unnoticeable as I walked past a Starbucks. The air was constantly getting warmer, for as the days were getting deeper and deeper into July. I tilted my head looking both ways as I crossed the street quickly, a sort of rush buzzing through me as I was nearing the set.

Greeted by Casey, I got myself a second cup of coffee and walked into the makeup room.

"KJ! We heard about your stalker, crazy news! So glad she was caught!" Lili giggled, rushing over to give me a hug. It put me off a bit, and I gave her a dazed grin.

"So uh how's everyone?" I asked slowly, looking at Lili who kept her gaze on me.

"Hot! This heat is killing me, it's as if mother nature took a blowtorch to the air."

"Well that could also be the pollution Camila, but sure." Replied Casey. I let out a laugh, settling into my chair as the makeup artists got to work. I scrolled through my phone and ran some lines, as the other talked among each other. I looked up at myself in the mirror, gaze returning to Lili who was still looking at me. I gave her a small smile and she quickly turned around.

"Anyone know when Cole is going to be here?" Lili seemed to ask impatiently. "I have an interview with him today."

"Ohh yea isn't it with Buzzfeed?" Camila asked excitedly. Lili rolled her eyes and replied with a cold "yes."

"KJ you're good, you can go." The MUA said to me, and I nodded a small 'thank you' as I left the room. When I walked over to the football field we were filming on today, I bumped into Cole.

"Oh hi baby, Lili is looking for you." I said, hand brushing over his shoulder, feeling it tense. "What's wrong?"

"I told Lili to come talk to me and I'm afraid of how she's going to react." Cole breathed, hands trembling underneath my touch.

"She seemed tense today Cole. Why don't you just tell her tomorrow?" I said in a calm voice.

"No, I'll tell her after the interview. Okay, wish me luck. I'm in the room across okay?" Cole gave me a small smile, as I waved him off.

This was going to be interesting.

Also you guys can probably imagine what they packed into one of those boxes haha ;))))
