ch. 24

First day back on set after the break, it was still chilly outside and everyone was still in the holiday mindset.

Cole was busy talking on the phone with many different people about setting up a new shoot for us since we hadn't done one in a while and people were getting anxious for new content.

Meanwhile, Lili and I were in the makeup room getting prepared for a scene with the two of us in it. I was scrolling through wedding event pictures while she stared off into the distance. I decided I wanted to be polite and set my phone down, attempting to talk to her. 

"Hey Lili... so how was your Christmas?" I asked subtly, giving her a small smile.

"Well considering you and your freak boyfriend ruined part of it, it was okay." She replied, looking at her nails and looking distressed.

"I'm really sorry about that, we're really sorry."

"It's fine. How is he, Cole I mean." When she spoke she seemed like she had butterflies in her stomach. Here we go again.

"He's great. Probably a little sore from last night but he's good." I said, holding back a loud laugh as I watched her face go red.

"KJ that's so gross! Gosh I already don't like you why would I want to hear about your sex life."

"Sex life?? I was just talking about how Cole is sore from bowling last night..." I replied, and she looked at me apologetically and speechless. That's definitely not what I meant either, but the perks of being an actor do come in handy.

"I, uh..." Lili said, half sorry half scared. 

"Well I need to go get my meal from Cole. Meet you on set in 5?"

"Meal from Cole? KJ what did I just say?!"

"What? He has my breakfast burrito."

"Oh... right."

"See you on set!" I told her as I walked off with a smirk spread across my face.

I went to go join Cole so we could eat breakfast together before we shot our scenes. He clicked off the phone and ran a hand through his hair in a distressed manner. His eyes wandered around the room, attempting to focus on anything but what might've just happened. Cole's cheeks were red and his eyes beamed with anger.

"Hey love, where'd you put my burrito?" I asked, trying to lift the tension in the room.

"In the snack room by the bathrooms. KJ, I just, I think I'm gonna go home early okay? See you later." He said, giving me a small smile before quickly turning to leave. I caught his arm, making Cole look at me. His expression was unreadable, I had absolutely no clue what was going on with him.

"KJ, just let him go," said Lili, as she walked into the room. My grip on Cole's arm loosened, and he left as Lili and I both watched him go.

"Don't worry about him, he probably just needs some space," Lili cooed, coming close to me and putting a hand on my shoulder.

So much for distance.
