Witness (Hawkfrost)

Imagine that you are a RiverClan warrior and you witness the murder of your mate, Hawkfrost.

This takes place when Hawkfrost was trying to kill Firestar but then Brambleclaw (his half-brother) stopped and killed him.

"Blood will spill blood, and the lake will run red.." - Leafpool

It had been hours since your mate, Hawkfrost, had left the RiverClan camp to go "hunting."

Well, that was what he told you he was going to do.

At first you believed him but you knew that he was proficient in hunting so he normally did not take this long.

You were little nervous. What if he was secretly seeing another cat? What if he decided to go back to his mother, Sasha, and go back to being a rouge?

You were currently in the warrior's den, laying in the moss nest that you shared with Hawkfrost.

You decided to go out and search for him.

You got up from the nest and stretched your back.

You then walked out of the warrior's den and walked out of the RiverClan camp.

You stopped and scented the air, smelling for any traces of Hawkfrost in the air.

It took you a few minutes before you scented him and you decided to follow his scent.

Strange..

Hawkfrost's scent was leading straight into ShadowClan territory..

What on earth was he doing there?

You didn't want to get caught in enemy territory but you wanted to know what Hawkfrost was doing here.

You quietly walked around, following Hawkfrost's scent.

It led to a small clearing that was surrounded and covered by bushes.

You crept through a small space between them and looked around.

You held back a yelp from what was happening in front of you.

The ThunderClan leader, Firestar, was on the ground, caught by a fox trap. A noose was tightly tied around his neck, making it hard for him to breath.

Although, he looked very weak and in pain, he was still very much alive.

Next to him, were Brambleclaw, a ThunderClan warrior and Hawkfrost's half-brother, and Hawkfrost.

Brambleclaw looked just as horrified at the sight of Firestar as you were.

"Look brother, I did this for you. You can kill Firestar now and become the leader of ThunderClan." Hawkfrost meowed calmly.

Hawkfrost did this? You stood still, watching from the bushes.

"I can't do it Hawkfrost. I am loyal to Firestar and I owe him my life for accepting me." Brambleclaw meowed back.

 "This is our chance to take revenge on Firestar for our father's death. He could've tried to stop Scourge, but he just stood there and watched Tigerstar die, over and over and over." Hawkfrost replied.

"No, I won't do it. Keep still, Firestar, I'll get you out of this in a heartbeat." Brambleclaw said.

"Coward! Keep away and I'll kill him myself if I have to." Hawkfrost hissed.

Brambleclaw ignored him and began to dig up the steak that held Firestar to the ground.

Brambleclaw had just managed to loosen the steak until Hawkfrost lunged at him.

He pushed Brambleclaw away from Firestar.

Brambleclaw quickly got back up to his paws.

"Brother, I don't wish to fight you. Just go back to RiverClan and we'll pretend this never happened. I am loyal to Firestar because he accepted me even though our father was Tigerstar. Now please go. I don't want to hurt you. " Brambleclaw meowed.

"We have great plans for the forest, Tigerstar and I, and you could have been part of them. But we don't need you because you are weak and care more for kin than for power. I don't." Hawkfrost hissed.

You were shocked, you had never seen this side of Hawkfrost before. He had always seemed so loving and caring towards you.

Hawkfrost again lunged at Brambleclaw.

Brambleclaw quickly turned around and yanked the steak that was holding Firestar out from the ground.

You froze as Brambleclaw rammed the steak into Hawkfrost's neck, leaving a fatal wound.

Hawkfrost fell to the ground and gasped for air as he began to bleed massively.

"I'm sorry Hawkfrost." Brambleclaw mournfully meowed.

"You fool! You think I did this alone? You think you are safe from within your own Clan?" Hawkfrost managed to painfully hiss out.

He then slowly stood up and began stumbling towards the lake that was behind him.

The water turned red from his blood and he then fell in the water, dead.

It took all your effort to hold back from running towards your dead mate.

Instead, you quickly turned around and rushed out of the bushes and ran back to the RiverClan camp.

You rushed inside the warriors' den and crawled inside your small moss bed.

You shut your eyes.

You were shaking.

You couldn't believe what you had just seen.

You had just witnessed the murder of your mate who secretly tried to kill Firestar.

Brambleclaw didn't have to kill him though.

You were filled with sadness and anger.

You wanted revenge.

You were going to get back at Brambleclaw. You were going to avenge Hawkfrost.
