You probably never noticed my gaze.

You sat two seats away from me in French.

You'd complain cause you were going to pick German.

You complained cause you already knew your subjects, and French wasn't one

In our school, the made us take all of our choice subjects before we decided which ones we'd study, so we'd know what we like.

I envied that you knew because I thought I was so sure before I came in, but now I was confused.

After we got back our first tests, the teacher told everyone aloud that I got the highest.

I was so embarrassed.

I had to tell the teacher that I learnt a little French in primary school.

It was a lie, I just didn't want to get called names.

I stuttered the entire time

You didn't make fun of my stutter like your friends.

You smiled at me and asked if I'd help you study.

Said that I was probably the smartest in our class.

You smiled.

My heart almost lept out of my chest.

You made my heart beat,

You didn't even have to try.

You set my face on fire effortlessly.

But you'd never know.
