We came back after Christmas.

In English, we changed seats.

I sat right beside you in the front seat.

Our teacher thought it would 'straighten you out'.

You made it your goal to try and prove her wrong.

We would pull the stupidest pranks on her.

Take her pens, turn off the computer screen.

They were harmless but I always would have to conceal my laughter.

The two of us would laugh on our way to science afterwards.

You'd walk me the whole way there, ignoring your friends as they made kissy faces.

You grabbed my hand once and dragged me faster to science.

We reached there first, just before we entered the lab, it looked like you were going to say something.

but you didn't.

You walked in and sat down beside me and the two of us threw pens at your friends.

Laughing at how they wouldn't throw one back because I was a girl.

You told me I was your shield.

But how you'd gladly be mine.

We both went quiet before bursting out laughing.

Everyone wanted to know what was so funny.

You said it was our secret.

It was the best day of my life.

But you'd never know.
