Chapter 17

Rachael's POV

We all travelled to Mario's downtown, Sofia went with Ivan, Dom went with Aurora and Gio travelled with us. Luca was tense for the whole journey only answering me with one word answers. Only me, him, Rita and Adrianna knew about what had happened in the past, we never told the kids knowing it would only cause upset in the family.

"It's going to be alright?" I squeezed Luca's hand while he was driving through the city. He carried on holding my hand while he drove, "I don't know how you can say that, the whole family is poison." Rita could never keep her views to herself and with Gio in the car as well, she did nothing but complicate things.

"Mama, will you just stop please."

"Stop, I don't know why you ever allowed her to marry that monster after all the sorrow he caused in the family."

"Just stop will you!" I could feel Luca tense, I looked in the mirror at Gio, his face was confused but he didn't say anything. "I will stop just don't expect me to be civil with him." Rita huffed and stared out of the window not speaking another word for the whole journey.

I hadn't been to Mario's for so many years, I think the last time was Sofia's 13th birthday when me and Luca were last a couple.

"Hasn't changed much has it?"

We were waiting for everyone to arrive outside of Mario's. "When did you last come here then?" I knew Luca was broken when we spilt up but Mario's was his favourite, surely he didn't stop going after me.

"Same as you, Sofia's birthday."

I reached up and planted and kiss on his lips. To everyone Luca was a murdering gangster with no conscience but to me he was a big softy with only his family at heart. "I'll never leave you again, you know that don't you?"

"What makes you think you have an option." He went in to give me another kiss, "here comes that basterd, look at his smug face." Rita was at it again, she just couldn't help herself. Luckily all of the kids had gone inside and it was just us three waiting for the rest of the guest to arrive.

"Mama your daughter is in love with that man and you have a granddaughter from that man, so will you just be nice for one night please."
Rita stormed off into the restaurant.

"Well that went well", Luca just shock his head in disbelief.
"This is hard for me to, that family killed my father and being nice kills me but I..." I kissed him before he could stay another word.
"Luca your a good man, the best in fact and I know why you do it and you've made Adrianna one of the happiest women for allowing what you allowed." He hugged me and kissed the top of my head.

"I know this probably isn't the best time considering that my sister and that asshole are now walking over but your divorce all came through this morning." DIVORCE, I hadn't even seen a lawyer yet.

"How?"

"Sofia told me on the plane that he cheated on you, so I got on it straight away and it means you leaving everything  but you don't need anything that asshole gave you when I can give you the world. You just need to sign it when we get back and your a free women." I was speechless less, there really is nothing this man can't sort out.

"So I'm a free women am I?"

"Well not exactly..." Luca lifted my chin to look at him.

"Good because this surprise of mine is going to turn your life upside down you know." I give him a quick peak and turned to greet Adrianna and Angelo.

Adrianna embraced me in a hug, it had been years since we last saw one another.
"I'm so glad you and my brother are together again."
I looked to see if Luca was talking to Angelo, Thank God he was.
