"Did you make breakfast?" Kate asked as she walked into the kitchen of the Teller home.
"She didn't but I did," Gemma said as she looked up from the stove. "You don't knock?"
"Oh uh," Kate stammered as she tried to recover from her surprise. "Tara knew I was coming."
"You're fine," Tara said as she exited the laundry room. "We'll be right back," she said to Gemma as she grabbed Katie's wrist and pulled her from the kitchen. "Sorry," she sighed. "You know Gem."
"Yeah," she rolled her eyes, "Sadly, I do."
"I looked at the last four days of blood work and your HCG is doubling the way it should," Tara said with a small smile. "That's good but we're out out of the woods yet, so to speak."
"Might be better off with bad news," Katie said sadly. "Hap is not...he's not Jax, Tara. He doesn't want this," she motioned around them as they stood the far end of the hallway. "The house and the kids," Katie shook her head. "It's not for him."
"You don't know that," Tara said softly. "He may not want it now but things change. He could hear about this and realize maybe he does want it he just never found the right woman."
"Trust me, he doesn't," she scoffed.
"Did you tell him?" Tara asked eagerly.
"No," she sighed, "I mentioned maybe moving in together and he got so weird. You'd think prison would make him want me closer."
"The adjustment can be hard," Tara said sagely. "After being locked away for so long they get rammy."
Katie nodded half heartedly. "Yeah I guess."
"Look don't stress until you know the choice is even up to you. I can do the ultrasound whenever you're ready."
"I'll never be ready," she shrugged.
"Okay, but you need to know before the baby gets any bigger. If it is ectopic the longer you wait the more likely it is that there will be complications."
"I'm free today," Katie said somberly.
"Come around lunch," Tara said as she gave her friend a hug. "Everything will work out."
Katie forced and smile and saw herself out without a word to Gemma. When Tara returned to the kitchen Gemma was watching her with a keen eye.
"Early morning visits?"
"Yup," Tara said, slightly standoffish.
"What are you two planning?" Gemma asked, seeming intrigued more than annoyed.
"Nothing," Tara laughed. "The parole hearing is Monday and we're going up together."
"Thought that was just in some shitty little prison conference room?" Gemma stood with her hand on her hip.
"It is, we can't even go in, but we want to be there."
Gemma nodded as she began cleaning the mess she had made while Able and Thomas ate. "I'm in the dark, Jax said he was concerned about the hearing."
"He thought Stahl was going to try to taint the board but I think it's handled," Tara said nonchalantly. "They should be home in less than six months."
"Unless she starts kicking shit up," Gemma spat. "That gash won't stop," she said warningly. "Well all be better off when she's dead."
"When?" Tara was taken aback. "Gem killing a fed isn't that simple."
"Jax did it for you," she sneered, throwing the fish rag on the counter. Grabbing her purse, Gemma began to storm out. "It's time he does it for all of us."

Later that day Katie arrived at Saint Thomas but lingered in the ER waiting room rather than heading up to Tara's office. She didn't want to know, not yet, but there really wasn't an option to wait.
Slowly making her way up to Tara, Katie wondered how mad Happy would be if he found out she was pregnant. Would he leave her? Begrudgingly stay with her? Katie figured it would be one of those negative outcomes but part of her wondered if maybe he'd be excited. That would be a long shot, she knew it, but she held on to some small hope.
"Hey," Tara stepped out of her office. "Come on, I'll take you into one of the exam rooms."
It was only about hundred feet away. Tara opened the door for Katie then shut and locked it when they were both inside.
"I'm gonna fucking puke. I'm so nervous."
"I would be too," Tara assured her. "I wish there was some way I could make it easier."
"Yeah me too " Katie huffed.
Laying back on the table, Katie screwed her eyes shut as Tara prepared to do the ultrasound. It was a much different terror than her first ultrasound with Charlotte but both times she was petrified.
"Katie," Tara said softly. "I'm sorry, it just wasn't meant to be."
Without looking at the screen Katie nodded and let a few silent tears escape her eyes. "Definitely not. Can you just let me go?"
"Sure," Tara wiped off Katie's stomach and helped her sit up. "I can write you a script for medication or you can opt for the surgery. It's out patient but it'll have to be done immediately."
"Medication?" Katie asked somberly. "What is it?
"It's actually a drug used for cancer patients, it'll usually end the pregnancy before the complications arise."
"Okay," she shrugged. "I don't want to have to do surgery, out patient or not."
"I'm sorry," Tara said apologetically. "Just remember if we let this go it could kill you. At a certain point it'll grow so big it'll rupture in your-"
"I know," Katie snapped. "I know," she said again but with sorrow in her voice rather than anger.
"I can take Charlie for the weekend," Tara said as she scribbled on the prescription pad. "This May make you sick, nauseous and tired usually."
Katie nodded and grabbed the little slip of paper. "I'll drop her off."
"No, I'll have Gemma pick her up from daycare. Go home, take the medication and try to get some sleep. If you need me just call if not, I'll see you Monday."
Standing up, wobbly and already feeling sick to her stomach, Katie nodded. "Okay, thank you."
"I'm so sorry, truly." Tara wrapped her arms around Katie and hugged her tight. "I love you, Kate. If you need anything, seriously, I'm here for you."
