𝗪𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 ran until our legs surrendered. He was trying to catch his breath while I could hear my own heart throbbing in my ears. We're not that far from the building but it felt like we already ran miles. He gently squeezed my hand and even though I couldn't see his face in the dark, I know that his eyes were telling me that it was alright. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came. Then everything became silent. His presence was now gone, the ghost of him lingering like a tattoo kiss, and that's when I started to feel the real fear. I am now alone and it was so cold and so silent until I heard it...

There's a knock on my door that made me wake up from my deep slumber.

"(Y/n)?" a woman asked from the other side.

I growl out of frustration and walked to my door, revealing the blonde woman in her mid-thirties, who was wearing a lab gown with a clipboard in hand.

"What, Margaret?" I snapped.

"Janson is looking for you. Today is your duty and the Subjects arrived," Margaret said.

"Okay. Okay- wait, the subjects arrived? Group A?" I asked excitedly.

She nodded.

"Oh my God. Where are they? Are they fine? How do they look? Are they tall? Are they complete? Are they-"

"Why don't you just check them by yourself?" Margaret cut me. "They're cleaning up their dirty bodies. Just go to the lab and wait for them. Janson is going to kill you if you're late again," she said and started to walk away.

"He'll never gonna do that!" I shouted behind her.

After securing that I looked like a professional, I started to walk into the laboratory, my (h/c) hair tied into a ponytail.

As I stepped into the room, I spotted Janson talking to one of the psychs. I ran towards him, hugging him tightly.

"Good morning Dad, " I greeted cheerfully.

He slightly pushed me away and fixed his coat. "Good morning, (Y/n), and don't call me dad. We already talked about that," he said, irritation laced on his voice.

"But Dad-"

"I said don't call me dad!" he snapped. "Call me Janson. And if I were you I would rather start my work or I'll feed you to the Cranks."

He walked out of the laboratory while I was left there with humiliation and hurt consuming me. I bit the inside of my cheek to stop the tears from falling but I didn't work. I wiped them away with the sleeve of my lab gown and I noticed someone looking at me.

It was a blond boy.

He was sitting on a chair, a doctor injecting him some vitamins. He quickly turned his head away when I caught him looking at me. He looked very familiar. Where did I saw him? I knew in the back of my mind that I know him.

"Stop looking at the kid or he'll burn, " Margaret said and that made me broke from my reverie.

"I'm not looking at him," I snapped.
