𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗨𝗡 𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗠 𝗜𝗡 a good way despite of the world being scorched. Asters and peonies bloomed beautifully, the branches of maple tree danced in the relaxing music of the wind. I was sitting on the ground, twirling grass with my fingers as she braided my hair.
"You are so beautiful, sweetheart," she said as she finished fixing my hair.
I felt my cheeks blushed and my heart fluttered with a warm feeling. I really love this woman. "But you are more beautiful, Mom," I smiled at her and she smiled back.
Her face was like an art painted in definite strokes. Her smile was the brightest and the only thing that was making me feel better. She made me feel better.
"Alright 'lil kid, let's go home," she said and helped me stand.
A walk to home sounds dangerous but we preferred to do it. Mom always told me that I need to embrace nature even only a mere pigment of it was left healthy. She loved outdoors, and we always go outside even there's a threat on our safety. Mom laughed at me as I bounced on my feet. Being with her felt like I'm flying, she made me feel everything.
I stopped on my tracks as a ragged lady head to us, muttering something inaudible under her breath. There was something off about her that scared me.
Mom told me to stay at the back as she approached the lady, "Hi ma'am. Um... are you alright?"
The lady stopped in front of her and I could see bruises and cuts were present in her body, blood was trickling down from the left corner of her forehead from a very deep wound. I wondered about who did this abuse to an old lady.
"Jesus... Your head is bleeding! We need to nurse that to avoid infections," Mom said and put her hand on the lady's face to check her wound but all of a sudden, the lady bit Mom's wrist.
She screamed in pain as she yanked her arm away, epidermis torn and teeth marks were etched on her skin, creating a wound. "(Y/n), run!" she ordered as she ran to me, her arm bleeding.
I just stood there. Too stunned to move, glued with terror. What is happening?
The lady ran to our direction and she pulled Mom's foot, causing her to land face-first on the road.
"Mom!"
"(Y/n), run!"
She kicked the lady in the face as the two of them fight on the ground. The lady rolled away and Mom immediately got up and ran to me but the lady jumped at her back which caused them to fall again. I screamed and screamed as tears rush down my eyes, pure fear and terror circulating in my nerves.
Green, bulging veins prominently etched on her skin, eyes filled with hunger and no hint of sanity, the lady bared her mouth in front of Mom's face, dark blood spilling on the corner.
"MOM!"
She moved closer, mouth baring mere inches away from my mother's face...
"Hey, hey! Get out of there!" somebody shouted that made me wake up from that very terrible nightmare.
My heart pumped so fast and tears started to form in my eyes as I recalled that horrible memory. Stupid nightmares. Stupid flashbacks. Stupid past.
I looked at my side, seeing Thomas shooing the raven away from our pack. I felt somebody stirred beside me, "Are they gone?" Newt asked as he tried to sit up then I realized I was sleeping on his arms.
