It had been a week since Jane had been discharged from the Medical Bay aboard the Enterprise, everything had returned to normal and nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

She had been given Doctor and Captains orders to rest for at least 10 days but at 7 days she was ready to crumble. She needed a distraction. She decided to disobey her given orders and to return to work.

She slipped out of bed and quickly got a shower not bothering to wash her hair, it could keep for another day. When she was dried she pulled out her uniform from her drawers and threw it on quickly and slid out of her room into the corridor. She looked around to see if anyone was around, there didn't seem to be anyone she noticed. There were familiar faces but she couldn't put names too them and figured they werent anyone to worry about being seen by so she continued walking and gathered pace still looking behind her every few seconds. She went to turn a corner when she smacked solid into something hard.

Or someone...

"Agh!" Jane scoffed. "Sor-" Jane began to apologise when she looked up and realised who she had walked into. "Oh its you again." Janes eyes widened, the man in front of her who she had previously had a run in with, stood still observing her.

"You should be resting." He began, "I believe thats both the Captain and Doctors orders."

"Well you should watch were your going." She said as she folded her arms. It took Jane a minute to realise what he said. "Excuse me?" Jane asked, puzzled by the man, "How do you know tha-

"Jane!" A voice called.

Jane turned to see Doctor McCoy making his way down the corridor toward her.

Dammit. Caught out.

"What are you doing out of bed? You should be resting." He addressed her before realising who Jane was standing with. "Lieutenant Harrison, can I  help you with something?" His voice was dry.

Now why did Jane find that name familiar?

"No Doctor you cannot." The man answered Doctor McCoy in the coldest voice Jane had ever heard.

What was going on? The tension between these two men was thick in the air like fog on a cold night. Why did they seem to dislike each other so much? How did he know Jane had been given orders to rest? And why did she know that name?

"Well then be on your way." Doctor McCoy replied.

"Forgive my asking but since when had you been given the authority to give orders, Doctor." The man retorted staring the Doctor square in the face.

The name, why did she know it! What was it Rose had said to her? "They called some guy in, Harrison or something." That was it. He was the guy they called to help her. But why? After all James did say he was "Just an Engineering Officer." Shed have to find out for herself.

"Look Harrison, unless you've forgotten what orders your serving on this ship by I recommend you don't try to cause trouble-"

"Doctor please I assure you, this man is causing no trouble at all. I was simply, ah... Asking him for... directions. I got lost." Jane lied and terribly at that too.

"Jane there are many interactive coms located all around this ship that will help you find your way if you get lost." McCoy told her.

"Yeah well you know, id probably get lost trying to find one." Jane 'fake' laughed. "Anyway Its fine. I'm just going to go back to my room and rest. Doctors orders."

McCoy didn't look convinced but he seemed to let it go. "Fine, don't forget you have an appointment with me tomorrow morning get plenty more sleep tonight. I'm going to be running tests tomorrow."

"Sure." She nodded.

"Ill see you then." McCoy made to leave. "Lieutenant Harrison." He hesitantly nodded as he walked past the man he had quarrelled with moments before. In seconds he was gone.

Jane was relieved that was over. She had almost forgot about Harrison standing still beside her until he spoke.

"You are a terrible lier."

"Oh well, it convinced him." She replied turning to face him.

"Why did you lie?" He asked looking down on her with questioning eyes.

"I... I needed to speak with you and he was interrupting." Jane confessed.

"Speak with me? Concerning what?"

"Concerning my time in the hospital ward. I was injured I know that, but what was wrong with me? How did i get better?" She bombarded him with questions.

"I think you ought to ask Doctor McCoy about that. Now please excuse me I need to get to my station." He responded as he made to leave.

"I know you had something to do with it." She put her hand on his chest as he attempted to push past her then quickly removed it when once he had stopped. "My recovery, I mean."

"How do you know that?" He asked with a strange look on his face, which Jane couldn't distinguish between concern or anger.

"People talk." She said innocently shrugging her shoulders slightly.

"People, lie." He responded abruptly pushing past her again and this time she didn't stop him.

Jane stood there, where she had been left alone after her conversation with Harrison.

She wasn't annoyed or angered by his lack of cooperation within the discussion she was intrigued. Why had he been so reluctant towards telling her what she wanted to know? Why did her brother want to keep this from her? So many unanswered questions and Jane made a promise to herself that she would find the answers to all of them, one way or another.
