Chapter 3: Investigation

"A body has been found! Everypony has exactly one hour to gather evidence! Good luck!" Lunar Nightmare sounded the alarm for finding a body. By that time, everypony was at Silver Spoon's room where she was found. Diamond Tiara cried in lament of losing her best friend. The Crusaders tried to comfort her, but she ran off. "She must be really torn up about this..." Applebloom said.

"I would be too if I lost one of you." Sweetie Belle replied.

"I'm just shocked that Silver Spoon was killed." Scootaloo said. The sight wasn't pretty. Silver Spoon's glasses were broken and her eyes were half open. She made some attempt to get help, for blood stained behind her. She was stabbed once in the stomach and twice in the back. The fatal blow seemed to be a slit wrist. "Alright everypony, we need to split up," Rainbow Dash said, "Crusaders, look for Diamond Tiara. Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Derpy, and Cadence, you look around for a murder weapon. Doctor, Twilight, examine the body. Trixie, Applejack, Shining Armor and I will look in this room. Got it?" Everypony nodded and went to their stations. Rainbow Dash was smart by putting ponies that can't look at blood away from the scene while having those better with science examine the body. Anypony else would examine the crime scene. Twilight and The Doctor got to work immediately. "It's just sad. Who would kill a filly?" Twilight whispered, examining the slit hoof.

"I don't know, and it's our job to find out." Doctor said, measuring the stab wounds with his hoof. "I assume that the wounds were made with something thin, but sharp enough to penetrate skin." Doctor continued.

"Like glass?" Twilight asked.

"Precisely." Doctor said, "Is there any broken mirrors in the room?"

"Her glasses are broken, but that's not enough to stab some pony with, is it?" Twilight asked, taking off Silver Spoon's glasses.

"I don't think so," Doctor guessed, "maybe they were broken in a struggle."

"Perhaps we should turn her over?" Twilight suggested. They agreed and flipped the filly over. While lifting her up, they saw a message written in blood. More or less, a picture. It was a circle with a small line sticking out of the top. "What is that?" Twilight asked.

"I think it's an apple." The Doctor said.

Rainbow Dash flew around the room, observing what she thought was interesting. She knew that Silver Spoon tried to leave the room, but died before she could. Applejack searched the blood soaked bed, knowing that she was attacked in bed and somehow managed to get close to her door. Shining Armor and Trixie searched for anything that could be used as a weapon. Rainbow Dash looked at Applejack, who was somehow very calm. It didn't surprise her, almost everypony was calm because they don't faint at the sight of blood, but Applejack looked determined. "You ok, AJ?" Rainbow Dash asked, landing next to Applejack.

"I'm fine, Sugarcube, I just want to get this over with." Applejack assured.

"Good, I want this to be over too." Rainbow Dash said. Something then caught her eye. The pointed it out to Applejack. Something shiny was under the bed. Applejack grabbed it and showed it to her. It was a shard of glass, too big to be from Silver Spoon's glasses, with the smallest end coated in blood. "Y'all better come see this." Applejack called to Shining Armor and Trixie. They looked over her shoulders and saw the shard. "It's obviously the weapon." Trixie declared.

"Where did you find it?" Shining Armor asked.

"It was under the bed, the killer must of tried to hide it." Rainbow Dash said.

"They didn't do a good job of it." Applejack joked.

"We need to talk about this with Twilight and The Doctor, maybe they could tell us something." Shining Armor said.

Pinkie Pie bounced around the halls, trying to find something, anything. Rarity and Cadence searched the dining hall for a knife or something that somepony could use to stab somepony else. Fluttershy and Derpy searched in the upper levels of the castle. "Um, Derpy?" Fluttershy asked.

"What, Fluttershy?" Derpy asked.

"You wouldn't hurt me. Right?" Fluttershy asked.

"Why would I?" Derpy replied, tripping, but getting back up.

"Well, um, I don't want any of my friends betraying me, so I just wanted to make sure-"

"EVERYPONY, COME QUICK!" Pinkie Pie screamed. Everypony that was searching ran to where Pinkie Pie was. She was in a bathroom, and the mirror was broken with one shard missing. "I walked in here to look around, and I saw that the mirror was smashed!" Pinkie explained quickly.

"Good work, darling, now we know where the weapon came from." Rarity praised.

"Maybe the other group found something out." Cadence said. They all decided to wait in the dining hall for the other groups to return.

Applebloom led Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo down a corridor to the library where a Diamond Tiara was crying. They finally found her and sat next to her. "C'mon, we need you." Scootaloo said.

"But Silver Spoon was my only friend! How can I go on knowing that she's dead?" Diamond Tiara said between sobs.

"We're your friends." Sweetie Belle assured.

"After all I did to you?" Diamond Tiara asked, wiping tears out of her eyes.

"Yeah! You can be an honorary Crusader!" Applebloom exclaimed. The fillies hugged and looked around the library for awhile. Soon, the voice of Lunar Nightmare echoed through the castle, "Everypony go to the dining hall and step into the elevator, it's time for the Class Trial!" The fillies then skipped to the dining hall for the trial.
