Chapter 4: Memories

That man.... is a hunter.
That woman ... is a vampire

  Yuki continued to stroll through town, not wanting to go back to the mansion. She couldn't get that mans face out of her mind. He smelled so.... familiar.  She knew that he was a hunter, but she could tell he was also a vampire. "Excuse me, miss." Came a voice accompanied by a tug on Yuki's coat. She looked down to see a child. "Miss, I lost my mother, could you help me?" Said the small child as he looked at her with tears forming in his eyes.

"Of course! Do you have any idea at all where she might be?" Asked Yuki as she crouched down to reach the child's height. "I think this way." He said as he pointed. He tugged Yuki's hand and she followed. After a few minutes, she noticed they were in a more deserted part of the town. "Are you certain this is where she could be?" Yuki asked, somewhat uneasy. Just then, the child stopped and clenched Yuki's hand tight. "Ouch! Hey, cut that out!" Cried Yuki and she struggled to free her hand.

"I found a meal for you mama." Said the child as he smiled and looked as a shadow emerged from a dark corner of the ally. "Good boy, now run along." Said the frail looking woman as she stood before Yuki. "You... are a vampire." Said Yuki as she took a step back. "Yes my dear. As are you, but you're special. I wasn't expecting to taste a Pureblood in my lifetime." Said the woman as her fangs and fingernails grew. "And you are a level E." Said Yuki. She ran at lightning speed at Yuki, who dodged the blows. "Damn, I ran out so fast I forgot to grab Artemis!" Said Yuki as she reached for her weapon unsuccessfully.

"Ah!" Screamed Yuki as a fingernail cut her wrist. "HAHA! Might as well give up my dear!" Screamed the woman as she reached to grab Yuki. "Keep those filthy claws to yourself." Said a calm voice from behind Yuki. The woman suddenly stopped as a bullet wound formed in her shoulder. "Damn you hunters..." she said as she turned to dust. Yuki turned to see the man she had bumped into earlier. "T-thank you.." Yuki said. "Whatever, vampire." He said as he turned to leave. "I have a name you know!" Yuki shouted as he walked away. "I know exactly who you are." He said as he turned to face Yuki.

"You are Yuki Kuran, a Pureblood Vampire of the Kuran family. The association keeps tabs on all of you." He said as a look of disgust colored his face. Yuki was taken aback. "But I don't know your name." She said quietly. "I'm Zero Kiryu of the Hunters Association." He answered coldly. Zero...  "Now get out of here." He said as he walked away. Yuki went back to the mansion. She was stopped half way up the stairs by Kaname. She ran to hug him. "Kaname I'm so sorry!" She whimpered as she held him close. "As long as you are okay, Yuki." He said as held her close to him. He picked her up and carried her to her bedroom. He looked at her wrist that still had remnants of blood from the cut.

Kaname took her wrist to his mouth, and drank her blood. "Kaname... I love you." Yuki said as she fell asleep in his arms. "I love you too Yuki... which is why I am going to do this for you." He said as he put his hand to her head and restored her lost memories.
