Chapter 5: A Sweet Dream

"Zero!" Screamed Yuki as she was jolted from her sleep. She was in a cold sweat as all her memories came flooding back. "Zero... how could I have forgotten.." she whimpered as she started to cry. "Kaname... Zero...". She whispered as she clenched her bed sheets. Zero's memories have been tampered with as well... what should I do? Yuki thought to herself as she wiped the tears from her pale face. "Would it be better if I left things as they are?" She asked herself as she thought back to all the times they spent together back at Cross Academy.

"No!" Yuki screamed as she made her decision. "Yuki?" Came a soft voice from the other side of her bedroom door. "Come in Yori." Yuki said as she opened the door for her friend. "Kaname already left, didn't he?" Yuki asked. "Yes... he came to see you last night but you were already sound asleep. He told Hanabusa and I to watch over you." Yori said as she held Yuki's hand. "He... restored my memories. Yori.. I have to do the same for Zero." Yuki said as she grasped Yori's hand. "I figured you'd say that." Said Yori as she smiled.

Yuki went into the town to look for Zero. She had no clue what to say or how to explain what happened. Would he even listen? "Jeeeez... where could you be Zero?" She asked as she stopped to sit. She was shaken by the smell of blood in the air. She quickly followed the scent. She came upon a fight. An unknown vampire, and Zero! She raced towards the two. "Miss Kuran, how nice of you to join us." Said the vampire as a crooked smile danced across his blood stained lips. "You again?! Are you two companions??" Said Zero as he gazed at Yuki. "No not at all, she's too proper to associate herself with someone like me, like all the rest of those damn Purebloods!" Screamed the vampire as a look of disgust replaced the crooked smile.

He lunged after Yuki who stopped the attack with Artemis. She threw him off. "Are you alright?" Asked Zero as he came to Yuki's side. What am I doing asking a vampire if she's okay?! He quickly shook the thought and pointed the Bloody Rose in the direction of the attacker. "Who are you?! And why do you have such a hatred of Purebloods?!" Screamed Yuki towards the unknown vampire. "Tch. Why don't you ask the one and only Kaname Kuran?" He said as his eyes turned crimson. "K-Kaname?" Asked Yuki in shock. At lightning speed, the vampire ran past Yuki, cutting her cheek.

"Bastard!" Screamed Zero as he shot at the vampire. Yuki touched her cheek to feel blood. Why does.. her blood smell so familiar?
Zero was taken aback by the smell of her blood. "Until we meet again, miss Kuran. And we will meet again." Said the vampire as he disappeared into a cloud of smoke. "You okay?" Zero asked as he looked to Yuki. "Yes, I'm fine." She said as she removed her hand from her cheek revealing smooth, porcelain skin where the cut had been. "Thanks for the help, but you'd be wise to stay away from here until we catch that vampire." He said as he turned to walk away.

Thump.

He turned to see Yuki collapsed on the ground. "Hey! What's wrong?!" He asked as he went to help her. Why do I feel so protective of this girl?? He thought to himself. Her scent was so familiar... he could feel his lust for blood. He picked her up and carried her back to the Hunters Association. She is just like the other part of me but...This girl.... is beautiful.
