Chapter 6: Knight

"Hey! Where are you going with her?!" Screamed Aido. Zero turned to see a blonde vampire running towards them. "She collapsed, I was taking her back to the association so she could rest" said Zero. "Let me take her." Said Aido as he reached for Yuki. As suddenly as she collapsed, she awoke. "W- where am I?" She asked. "You passed out, but you're safe." Said Zero as he reassured the petite girl in his arms. Zero...

"Your friend is here for you." Said Zero as he set her down. "Yuki, you should come home." Said Aido as he grabbed her hand. "But, Zero!" Screamed Yuki as she turned to look at Zero, who had already left. "Yuki, maybe it's best this way." Said Aido as he clenched her hand.  She returned to the Kuran mansion with Aido, contemplating the situation. "Are you alright, Yuki?"  Came a familiar voice that entered her room. "Kaname." She whispered as she looked up at him.  "You must be thirsty." He said as he unbuttoned his shirt. Without thinking, she dug her fangs into his neck.

"Yuki, I'm so sorry that I had to leave you alone in this. Zero requested this, but I can see this is not what's best for either of you." Kaname said as he held Yuki close to him. "Kaname, where did you go, and what did you do?" Yuki asked as she stared at him intently. "I can't tell you, but I will say it is to keep you out of danger." Kaname said as he rested his hand on Yuki's cheek. "I was attacked today Kaname! And I was told to ask you! So please, tell me what's going on!" Pleaded Yuki as tears streamed down her face.

"The vampire who attacked you is named Leopold Matsuo. He goes by the alias 'Assassin'." Kaname said sternly. "Assassin?" Yuki asked as she wiped her tears. "Yes. His goal is to exterminate all pure bloods, because of me." Answered Kaname. "K-Kaname... what did you do?" Yuki asked as she grabbed his hands. "This is all I'll reveal to you now, you need to rest." Said Kaname as he hugged the one he loved. Yuki conceded, and took her place between her silken bed sheets.

"Aido." Said Kaname as he joined him in the study. "Yes, Lord Kaname?" Asked Aido as he stood to greet his leader. "Please keep a close watch on Yuki, and keep her safe." Kaname said in a soft voice. "Of course." Said Aido as he bowed. "Are you leaving again?" Asked Aido. "Yes, I have to stop this vampire and his accomplices. He is sure to come for Yuki." Answered Kaname as he grabbed his coat. "If something were to happen to Yuki, I'm afraid you'll see a side of me you won't be able to recognize." Said Kaname as he left the mansion once more. "Understood, President Kuran." Said Aido as he watched the snowfall cover Kaname's foot prints.
