Peter was having a bad day.

Like a very bad day where he would just staring at the ceiling in his bedroom.

May knew something was odd the minute Peter didn't really enjoy his food and playing with his food. His head was down, and no matter how many times May tried to cheer the boy up, Peter would just give her a weak smile and focusing his eyes with the fork on his hands. It was odd, because May cooked his favorite breakfast, and morning wouldn't just go on without Peter's chattering. Especially when he just spent a whole weekend at the compound with the Avengers. May usually would find Peter talking about his activities there.

Since she knew Peter was Spider-Man, it wouldn't a surprise anymore when Peter told him about Tony Stark and Bruce Banner who would let him work in their labs, updating some suits for the Avengers. Or the other Avengers who would teach him how to use their weapons. Recently, she heard from Peter if Natasha Romanoff (May didn't quietly remember each name of the Avengers, but she just went along with Peter) had taught him how to aim with a gun. She didn't like the idea of letting Peter associated with the Avengers and one of them intentionally taught him how to use a gun. But Peter had managed to persuade her, if in fact, the Avengers taught him a trick to survive in a battle field.

She also didn't like the idea of "surviving in a battle field". Peter was only 15, his life was already hard since he was a baby. His parents died when he was so much young for her husband didn't have a heart to let the boy being taken care under an orphanage. So they both took care of Peter and raised him like their own son. But since Ben died, Peter was not the boy she used to know. He changed completely into a different person, and until now, he was still blaming himself for Ben's death though May didn't know why.

Peter was staring at his ceiling. He hated this day. Since morning, Peter was struggling to hold his tears up. He didn't want to make Aunt May sad because she knew Peter remembered what kind of day today. Though he felt bad for not paying any attention to anything May said, Peter couldn't resist it any longer. So he went to his bedroom right after he finished his breakfast. He couldn't contact Ned since he was spending time with his father. He also couldn't contact MJ since she would most likely spat at him for bothering her. So, there was nothing Peter could do to spend his time, and he was too lazy to go out as Spider-Man today.

Because everything about today would only remind him about Uncle Ben. And he hated the guilty he felt inside of his heart. He remembered clearly, that day, in the dark alley, his uncle lying on the ground drowned in his own blood. With a gunshot wound on his chest. Peter cried that night, loud enough for people around them to give him a comfort until the ambulance and the police came to the crime scene. Even until now, he could still feel the blood on his hands. As if the image of the blood aimed to remind him of his mistakes. He killed his uncle, just because he was too young and too stupid to understand. Ben and May had given him something precious in his life, but Peter returned their love by getting Ben's blood on his hands.

Peter closed his eyes and tears began to fall out, making trace onto his cheeks. God, he hated himself. He knew May probably already worried about him now. But Peter just wanted to be alone, he just wanted to sleep and skip the day. He didn't want to be sad or feel guilty just for a day.

"Peter," May's gentle voice suddenly echoing through his bedroom. He didn't move, afraid if May would see his tears. So he secretly wiped them up. She came into his room, the sound of the heels suddenly heard. Right, Peter almost forgot if May was going to go, spending the day with Peter's grandfather. "Are you sure you don't wanna go with me?" May ruffled his curly hair, feeling the soft sensation under her palms. Peter's hair was so silky.

Peter shook his head, still didn't move. He wanted to give May the time she deserved, and going there would only worsen his mood. May sighed, she hated going when Peter was this sad. But it was a tradition, and usually, Ben and Peter would also go with her to spend the night together in her father's house. But this year was different, many May knew exactly why.
