That Was Some Kiss

"I don't want to go." I whined, holding on the railings at Luce attempted to pull me in my room to get dressed for this stupid blind date she set me up with. For someone who was barely five-four, she was freakishly strong. "No!" I shouted as she pulled me loose and dragged me upstairs. I had forgotten about the stupid date when I was hanging out with Adam, but it came back to bite me in the ass. I came home to give Leslie a piece of my mind, but she left a note that said she was out catching up with her brother and won't be back until Benji's party. That coward.

"Come on Cassie!" Luce moaned, sounding exasperated. "Tyler's a good guy."

"Then you go out with him!" I retorted and she scoffed.

"He's not my type, but he's yours."

"And what makes you think that?" I almost asked if he had too light brown hair and multi colored eyes. Luce let me go and I noted with some surprise that we were in my room. Benji was sleeping and I had to keep quiet. I couldn't help but think she planned this out so I wouldn't yell at her. So, I settled for glaring.

"Just trust me okay?" I did, trust her not to give me a "crash and burn" like Leslie did, but I really didn't want to go on the date. Blind dates made me feel, well blind. She was already looking through my closets. I watched her with folded arms as she pulled out a dark pair of skinny jeans and a rolling stones shirt and raised my eyebrows.

"Casual date?" I asked. Luce looked up from her work and rolled her eyes an.

"Tyler's... not like us okay? He's just a normal guy. No trust funds, fancy cars and all that crap." She handed me the clothes and I got undressed and put them on without any arguing. I actually found myself getting interested.

"I'm just a normal girl." I defended. Luce's head snapped towards me and she nodded, approving of her pick and looking for shoes.

"Yes, with multiple trusts, a limited edition Lamborghini, not to mention an eleven million dollar Park Avenue apartment..." She grinned at me. "Shall I go on?"

"No, I think you've made your point." I grimaced. I was a spoiled brat. I never really thought of myself like that, but in another person's point of view, that's probably exactly how I was perceived to be. Damn, that sucked. "I'm a spoiled brat." Luce laughed at me and handed me some tan leather boots that came up to my calf. Steve Madden, I saw with an annoyed grimace. I didn't even remember buying them.

"Spoiled yes, but you are not a brat. You're the most humble person I've met, including normal people." She smirked and took my arm tugging me into the bathroom.

"You're hair is longer." She commented while she straightened it. I looked myself in the mirror while she straightened it. It did grow a few inches. It was almost to my waist. Yet another reminder how time was moving on without my best friend.

"Yeah," I sighed. "It is."

After getting me dressed and all girl-ified, Luce gave me directions to a nearby cafe and nearly kicked me out of my own apartment. I walked to the Cafe, biding my time before I had to meet this Tyler guy, but when I saw that I was already ten minutes late, I quickened my pace. I knew how it felt to be waiting for the other person to show.

The cafe, Atlas was one of my favorites. They had the best vegan treats in the entire universe.(A/N They really do have the best vegan treats ever. I swear, it's the first place to go if you're ever in new york.) Luce planned this out well. She knew I would stay at least for the desserts, if not for the date.

When I went inside, I noticed that it wasn't as busy as usual, just of dozen people coming and going, and only a couple of people actually sitting. I looked around for people who could have been Tyler. There was a bald man with a beer gut sitting in a booth, reading the times and drinking coffee, hell no.
