As Nik and I were walking through the compelled workers digging through to find the sword, Stefan's name came up on Klaus's phone.

" How the hell did Conner escape?"

" I blame my numbing incompetence, but pointing fingers isn't gonna help me. You're gonna help me."

"Well, he could be anywhere by now."

" Think, Stefan. He took the hybrid's head, which means he wants werewolf's toxin." I said.

"Which means he plans to stay in Mystic Falls to kill vampires." He said.

" Which is a pity, as we're half the world away, digging up a dead hunter. You'll have no access to my blood, and therefore no antidote. Nevertheless, his tattoo is our only map to the cure. So your task is quite simple. Find him, catch him, and above all, keep him alive. He's no good use dead."

"Damon's been looking everywhere for him. If they cross paths-" I sighed angrily and snatched the phone out of Nik's hands.

" You need to keep Damon in check." I growled.

" It'd be a lot easier if I could just tell him the truth."

" You trust Damon with the cure? I imagine he prefers Elena the way she is." I laughed a little bit at the thought of it. I knew Damon didn't feel that way about Elena, anyone can see it. He cares about her, but her looks remind him of Katherine.

" Nice try Isa. But I trust Damon a hell of a lot more than I trust you."

" And I trust no one. Which is why your brother and I are on a break. The more who find out about the cure, the more who will go after it. Nations have gone to war over less. You mark my words, tell one soul and I will throw the hunter's sword into the Mediterranean and we can end this quest right now. Am I understood?" I turned to the side to see the proud smirk on Nik's face, no doubt proud of my skills.

I rolled my eyes when the call ended. I then started to walk, knowing that Nik would follow.

" Well, sister, didn't know you had it in you." Nik said as he walked freely beside me.

" Well, Damon is a rough topic for me, as you know how much of a moron he is. I just thought he cared, ya know. wait, you don't know, because you've never been in love. I can't believe I was actually talking about, my love issues with my non-love believer brother." I said, trying to lighten up the mood, even though I was right.

" I know I shouldn't be encouraging this. The Salvatore brother's cause trouble wherever they go, but you seemed happy, and I could tell that he genuinely cared about you. You shouldn't give up on love, if you ever find it. I may be wrong, and I might find myself someone that I can care about, but you already had that person. And I haven't murdered him yet, so he can't be that bad. Just try. I don't like seeing you unhappy." He said, struggling. I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck.

" You are my other half, Nik. I have you and soon I'll have my daughter back. If Damon and I do end up giving up on us, I'll still have all I will ever need. Thank you, Nik." We stood there for a few minutes before letting go.
