"are you okay, luke?" calum asked worriedly as the boy with the quiff sat opposite him at a table today for lunch indoors. calum thought something was wrong with luke as soon as he saw him enter the lunch hall and stumble over to their table.

"hm? yeah. fine. how are you? how was lesson?" luke blubbered, talking nonsense and way too fast for calum to even believe for a second that he was 'fine'.

"i'm okay. you don't look fine." calum stared at the boy.

"well, i-" luke started, but stopped himself with a sigh, his tongue poking out of his mouth for a second and sliding along his bottom lip. calum coughed. "michael kissed me."

calum almost choked.

"michael what?" he asked

"m- he kissed me." luke repeated.

"what? like- on the cheek?"

"lips." luke mumbled.

calum was stunned, and even more so when he caught a glimpse of that unmissable red hair in the corner of his eyes, heading toward their table.

"mind if i sit with you?" michael asked, a smirk as big as the earth on his face.

it wasn't really a question, and they both knew that by the way michael simply sat down beside luke, opposite calum, and grinned at them both. "well, carry on with your conversation, don't let me stop you." he said as he bit into a hotdog he'd bought from the canteen previously.

calum swallowed thickly and stood up. "i'll leave if you want me to lu-"

luke shook his head, eyes wide, almost begging calum to stay without actually saying anything.

calum looked from the red head to luke and sighed. "michael, why are you here?" he asked as he tossed his food into the bin beside the table and sat back down.

"you didn't word that very nicely calum." michael scoffed, his smirk still wide.

"it wasn't nice of you to come and barge in without asking." calum clenched his fists by his sides.

"i did ask." michael pointed out, popping a cherry into his mouth. "you just didn't give me an answer quick enough."

calum made a noise between a grunt and a growl and looked away from michael at a scared luke sat beside him, and sighed again. "well, we were talking about important stuff, so can you just go? you have friends, and you don't like us. i don't understand why you're here."

michael shot a glare at calum. "i'm not doing any harm by being sat with you, am i?" he asked. "fucking asian twink."

"i'm not a-"

"that's too far michael. please leave." luke said from beside the red head, arms crossed in front of his chest.

"fine." michael grunted, standing up and narrowing his eyes at calum, opening his mouth to say something when one of his mates called his name, and he turned his head in that direction, shouting back to them and walking away from their table.

"fucking hell." calum rested his head in his hands.

"i know." luke muttered.
