"mum?" luke asked, wandering out into the kitchen where he knew he'd find liz, baking more treats. she was trying to get better at cooking, and had spent almost all the holidays in the kitchen. luke didn't mind, he was happy that he got cookies and sweet treats all the time.

"hello sweetie." liz replied cheerfully as usual. luke didn't think he'd ever seen his mum angry.

"i- i've been invited to go on a date later, so- so i'm not going to be in." luke blushed a little, and looked up at his mum, who turned around, her face beaming.

"my son has a date!" she cried happily, pulling luke in for a huge hug. "who's it with, you must tell me! i want to meet him! ooh! we have to get a nice family photo together!"

luke chuckled, but felt a little guilty at the fact he couldn't let michael meet his mum. it sucked really, but he couldn't risk it all right now. when things got serious and he thought of some sort of excuse as to why he was dating his bully, he'd think about it.

"soon mom, soon. i don't want to rush into things. and i've never done anything like this, so." luke smiled shyly and started to walk back up the stairs.

"okay lukey!" and liz went back to her cooking.

-

as luke stared at himself in the mirror, he was starting to have butterflies in his gut. he'd closed his curtains so that michael couldn't even get a glance at how he was going to dress for this evening, he didn't want his surprise to be ruined, but now he was wondering if he'd made a good choice with how he wanted to look on their first date.

he had gone all out, something he'd never really done before, and he wasn't sure if he liked it or not. he certainly looked different, and he felt a lot prettier and more confident.

he had applied makeup, a small amount of concealer, a light pink eyeshadow that wasn't too noticeable, and lip gloss, with mascara making his eyelashes look long and pretty, and making him look cute if he batted them. he hoped michael would think he looked cute too.

he'd even decided to wear girly clothes. he wasn't sure what'd come over him, he just thought it was kind of.. cute.

he'd ended up dressed in a baby blue tennis skirt with black fishnets on and baby blue vans to match, and a simple white tee since he didn't know what else to pair it with that'd match. he had socks on with the ripndip cat on them, and he'd styled his hair into his usual perfect quiff. he was wearing lacy panties underneath the skirt, and had decided he quite liked those too.

he hoped michael liked everything as well, or else he was screwed.

as he stared back at himself in the mirror, his phone buzzed from on the table beside him, and he picked it up to see a text from michael on the screen.

mikey: i'll be outside in five? x

luke smiled to himself and tapped back a quick 'sure x' in response before grabbing his denim jacket and throwing that on as well, since he'd only just remembered how cold it was outside at the moment, even if it was supposed to be summer break.

he slid down the stairs and his mum's face lit up when she saw him, she almost dropped her mug of hot chocolate as she came running over to hug her son.
