I pretended my stomach hurt and asked Jughead if he can drive me home.

He wasn't thrilled, but the night wasn't great after what Billy did.

I couldn't wait to get home.

Jughead didn't even wait for me to come into the house, he immediately drove away. I went upstairs and knocked on Billy's door, and opened them.

He sat on the bed and waited for me with a worried expression on his face.

I've never seen him so disturbed.

He got up from bed and surprised me when he immediately hugged me. "Thank you for coming back."

My heart beaten so fast as he held me in his arms.

My body wished to embrace me even harder. "What happened, Billy?"

He let me out of the embrace, and he took me by the arm to the bed, where we both sat. "I have to go back to California."

It seemed to me that I would throw up all the food I had just eaten.

"What?", I put my hand on his knee because I had the feeling that I'm losing my balance. "Why?"

     "My mother came back."

"I don't understand. She was supposed to stay in England until summer."

He looked at the floor and sighed he looked at me. "What I'm going to tell you now is that I haven't told anyone, I didn't even write it in my diary, this must stay in these four walls. You can't tell this to your mother and you definitely shouldn't tell my father. Promise me."

     "I promise."

"My mother isn't in England. Soon after I came here, she went to the hospital in Arizona for depression and narcotics. It took six months for the program."

"Why she didn't tell your father the truth?"

"My mother is a very talented painter. I know that you know that. Anyway, she had a chance to spend one year in London and used it as an excuse for my father, even though she rejected the offer. She's ashamed to tell him how bad she is. Before she decided to go to the hospital, she had too much of a pills for sleep and I found her on the floor. I thought she was dead."

"It was a nightmare you dreamed about."

     "What?"

"That night when you went to sleep, you yelled, 'Mom, wake up.'"

"Yeah. Makes sense. In fact, I often dream that. My mother is weak. Since my father left her, she's no longer the same. I was scared I lost her. I only have her.", I tighten his knee.

"Do you really think our parents had an affair and that he left your mother because of mine?"

"I know he had cheated my mother because I checked his computer. He met your mother over the internet while he was still married to mine. He would say he was going to a business trip, but he actually came here to visit Alice. I wouldn't lie to you about that."

     "I believe you."

"In Alice's defense, I'm not sure what story he told her. Perhaps he pretended to be divorced. Do you remember when you told me that your father was the only true love for your mother?"
