it's seven at night and niall finally decided to go talk to blake, he needed her to understand why he couldn't go out with her that night. he couldn't stand her thinking differently if she happened to be doing so.
niall was walking on the block blake lived on; the trees were tall and the sky was only beginning to turn dark. the sidewalk was crooked, which had him leaning and moving just to stay intact with it. niall fiddled with the phone in his hands nervously. what would blake say when he arrived at her door? would she slap him? it wouldn't be a surprise if she did honestly; she may seem calm and collected, but girls can get intensely angry. niall was extremely nervous as to how she'll react, but it's worth going to see her.
he was right in front of her house, when he lifted his head to look in front of him, there was blake. she was leaning against the beams of the house; her eyes were closed. niall acknowledged the earphones plugged into her ears, obviously giving the hint that she was listening to music.
taking a breath in, he began his walking toward her. blake didn't notice his presence until he sat right beside her on the stoops. her eyes snapped out, looking to the side of her where niall sat. an expression of disbelief was shown on her face; she didn't look angry at all. she just seemed confused and curious.
he offered her a smile, but she only rolled her eyes and ignored it. she forcefully tore out her earphones and looked over at niall again.
"before you slap me i wanted to--"
sighing, blake stood up, standing in front of niall. "i'm not going to slap you." she muttered, fiddling with the mp3 player in her dainty hands.
"hear me out?" niall stood up too; he was now face-to-face with blake.
she shrugged, looking away at the flowers that grew from the grass on her front lawn. they were beautiful. blake didn't want to look at niall, she was afraid that if she looked at him she'd regret it. what if he was going to lie straight to her face? no, niall wasn't like that. he was an honest person.
as blake continued to deny looking at niall, she felt a small touch on her chin. niall lifted her head softly and slowly, forcing her to look at him.
"it was my mum, blake. she's sick, she has cancer and that day i asked you out she wasn't too good. i-i tried to see you and tell you everything so you wouldn't hate me, but at the same time i didn't want to leave her side. do you get it? i would never, never ever stand you up. you're so unique and i wouldn't ever reject you like that, understand? i just like you a lot, and i love my mother, it was just hard. she needed me, so i was with her. please don't take this the wrong way, i just-"
niall's eyes were filled with tears; soon enough, they started falling from his eyes. just before they past his cheeks, blake wiped them away with her soft, warm hands.
a sympathetical smile appeared on her face as she wiped another one of niall's tears away. "niall, i wish you told me from the start. it's fine, i swear. you don't have to worry about me, i want you to take care of your mother. i'll be here for you."
this was the first sentence blake as ever spoke to niall that was loud and clear. it wasn't a mutter. just a simple, meaningful sentence and it made niall smile brighter than ever. he took blake, pulling her into his chest and squeezed her tenderly. she rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes because the comfort of this hug was literally something that could make her doze off into sleep. once they pulled away, he planted a small kiss on the tip of her small nose.
"thank you, blake. this means so much." niall brushed the only hair in her face away, looking at her gorgeous blue eyes.
"can i ask you one thing, blake? it's off kinda off topic."
she grinned, nodding slowly.
"out of all colours you could dye your hair, why'd you dye it pink?"
a laugh left her lips; it was like silver bells ringing her niall's ears.
"my father. he thought pink was a nice and manly colour, so i dyed it like this." she spoke, motioning to her hair.
hands down, her hair fit her perfectly.
a/n; do i suck or do i suck.
