Trick of the Summer

The summer lights are blinding,

The reality I was avoiding,

But this panorama is alluring,

My heart, its always crying,

But today its maturing,

My past I'm abandoning,

My soul, the summer is adorning,

Even when life's agonizing,

Finally, somehow I belong,

So, I'll sing a happy song,

My friends came along,

This friendship seems lifelong,

But one day everyone will leave,

I'll try not to grieve,

For everything I did receive,

Made me able to believe,

But I'm still afraid,

Afraid of being betrayed,

But this warm, nostalgic light,

Is the reason I write.

This part of the universe,

For some it maybe a blessing, for some a curse,

But to me, in life, a newcomer,

This is just a trick of the summer.

So I walk a lonely road,

Lit up by hopes and dreams.

The lights seem blinding,

I can hardly even see,

But to where does this path leads?

Is a question I ask myself.

For this trick of the summer,

Has me smiling happily.
