Chapter 10: Discussion

*Jacob POV*

"Jasmine! W-What are you doing?! Let me go!"

I was currently pinned against a tree by Jasmine and if I wasn't scared shitless by her grin and the way her usually warm, brown eyes were now an icy blue I would have been turned on.

"Jasmine isn't here at the moment. I am Pardus. I am her protector."

Even her voice sounded different, it sounded dangerous...lethal even.

"Her..protector?"

Jasmine..I mean Pardus gives me a grin.

"Yes. I am her protector. I will protect her against anything: vampires, enemies, in battle, and even against her mate who does not realize how much of an idiot he is."

Guilt settled into the pit of my stomach as I remember how I treated her the night at the bonfire when our eyes met and I imprinted on her.

'God. I'm such an idiot.'

I can practically hear my inner wolf in the back of my mind.

'You got that right.'

I ignore him for now and focus on Pardus who gives me a knowing look as if she knows what I'm thinking.

Before I can say anything, she begins to speak again.

"Jacob. That girl. Your friend..Isabella Swan...

"How do you know about Bella?" It seems interrupting her was not the best choice because she gives me glare that has me thinking the phrase: a look that would kill started with her.

"Jasmine is friends with the mate of your alpha. I can see everything she sees, hear everything she hears, and feel everything she feels."

"As I was saying, your friend Isabella Swan she would go back to her vampire lover without a second thought, leaving you behind. She's leading you on, Jacob."

"You must know that."

I've been in denial about that for a long time everyone has been telling me that: my pack mates (especially Leah), my own father, and even my inner wolf but I refused to listen.

I gulp and I feel the lump in my throat. It was finally time for me to accept the truth.

"Yes. I do know that. Everyone in my life has told me that but I refused to listen. I just thought that..."

"You just thought that if you somehow helped her get over him that she would finally realize her feelings for you."

"You need a dose of tough love right now Jacob: she is only using you until her vampire comes back. You have a chance at love. A chance to be with someone who will love you and be there for you through thick and thin."

"Don't let it pass you by."

It hurt to hear that but she didn't sugar coat anything. I have to get over Bella.

"I-I won't. I promise. I have some making up to do. I know that. But how can I make it up to you...to her?"

Her gaze softened now. "That is something you will have to figure out on your own."

"But I must go. Jasmine wants to have her own conversation with you."

"Until next time, Jacob Black."

Suddenly the grip on me loosened and icy blue eyes was now replaced with warm, brown ones.
