Aaron's POV~
I check the clock in a rushed manner, desperate to finish the day's work as fast as possible. Just gotta get these papers to my father, and then I'm done.
I get up the stairs, and up to the top floor where my father's office lies.
'CEO Lycan' reads the sign beside his door. I give the door three knocks.
"Come in," states the deep voice from the other side. Opening the door, I feel a sense of accomplishment. This is my last task before my day's break.
"Ah, son. I honestly didn't expect you to finish everything so quickly!" He says proudly. I set the papers on his desk.
"Well, I'm trying to race towards my break. This is just tiring me out, you know?" I say. My father chuckles.
"Yes, I know the feeling. But didn't you just have a break when that girl was sent to the hospital?" He asks. I finally meet his eyes.
"Yes, but I spent the break worrying about her. Dad, she's still in a really bad condition. I heard from her mom that she was finally taken out of intensive care, but they're still worried about her," I say.
"Well it's good she was put into normal care. If the doctors believe she's okay, then she'll be okay," my father soothes. I give him a slight smile.
"I hope so."
My father studies me, like he's reading a book.
"You really are worried about her. What is her name, again?" He asks.
"Aphmau... her name is Aphmau," I answer.
"What a strange name... what exactly happened to her? I never really got the full story," my dad says as he grabs a cup of coffee from his desk. He doesn't know the full story because he never really cared enough about her to hear it.
"Well, she was diagnosed with a condition called... trifaylsystemasis, you've probably never heard of it," I look up at him again, and he shakes his head.
(Corgi here. "Trifaylsystemasis" is not a real condition, I made it up. And the name is just made up of the greek and latin roots for the "description" of the condition, so dont try to google it. ❤)
"It's a condition in which a virus attacks three major systems, attacking one about each year until it strikes the heart, which is fatal." I check to make sure my dad is still following before I continue. "However, Aphmau had a complication. It was spreading prematurely for her, so we didn't know how long it would be until it was fatal. She was in and out of the hospital, and then it finally struck her heart a few weeks ago, which should have killed her, but she pushed through and survived it. That's why shes still in a bad condition, because her heart nearly stopped." After the long explanation, my father has a thoughtful expression.
"So that's what's been bothering you," he says. I nod my head.
"Aaron... do you really love her? How much does she mean to you?" My father asks with a serious expression.
I lean against the wall, staring at the wall.
"She means more to me than I want to admit. She means everything to me. Every second of the day, I'm thinking about her." I tear my gaze from the ceiling to look at my father, who is once again studying my expression. "I'm always worrying about her. Always wondering if she's okay. And I love her more than anything."
"Do you think she loves you as much?" My father asks. I smile.
"She definitely shows love for me. She was the first one to actually say 'I love you'," I explain. My father shows a smile.
